Huge series with Milwaukee this weekend. I think the Cardinals finishing schedule is too easy for PIT to realistically catch them unless they just shit bricks for a series.

The answer is YES for home field for the Wild Card game, 1st TB is head-2-head.

If PIT wins one more against MIL, they should be in great shape to at least claim a wild card. Need someone to play spoiler against STL for the division. They're at least right within shouting distance if someone can beat the Cards.

Honestly think Hurdle should be considered for Manager of the Year. Did a great job with all the injuries they had to the rotation to keep this team in contention. Matt Williams will probably get it though for winning the division as a first year guy.

Ray Searage should get some props too; he's taken guys like A.J. Burnett, Volquez, Morton, even Grilli last year and turned them into solid contributors. He and Russell Martin are the engine of that team; they must keep those guys on after this season.

It's unfortunate, but the writing looks to be on the wall for Martin leaving. Free agent and someone will overpay for him. Only saving grace would be if Martin truly wants to stay with a proven winner in a comfortable setting. Would be refreshing, but rare - see AJ Burnett who probably could have done the same last offseason instead of going for money on a loser.

Big win today. Vance Worley pitching like a boss again. Seriously who would have thought Worley + Volquez would be key cogs in this rotation that were DEPENDABLE when called on. Race now looks to be seeing who hosts the wild card game. Neck and beck with SF.

Just hanging around in the Central ... even though it's the Cubs, two legit shots on Tuesday & Wednesday maybe that they can get a win against STL. Hendricks and Arrieta throwing. Bucs got tough pitching match-ups in ATL, gonna have to grind 'em out low scoring probably.

Would love it if they can get to the weekend just a game out.

Feel pretty good with Volquez up. Best, least-talked about offseason signing IMO. Guy has been invaluable.

Bucs gonna need unlikely help from the D-Backs. Unfortunately, PIT also faces some good pitching this weekend in Cindy & haven't done well against the Reds. Suppose it's more realistic to try to hang onto the home game for the wc. Giants get SD for 3, trailing PIT by 1.
