You ARE stupid. Most of the world is though so don't feel bad. It is all made up by us a long time ago. It has just been pounded into your head so much it has brainwashed you into believing. The church used to condemn people for thinking the world is round. They have now decided that is in fact round because of proof. There will never be "proof" that God doesn't exist so people will keep brainwashing themselves. No one wants to believe that once you are dead the game is over. It is equivalent to being a scared child all of your life. Face reality and enjoy life to it's fullest because this is all you get.

Most of that happened how many centuries ago? As apposed to modern countries where atheism is dictated (China, North Korea, USSR before, etc.) and the state merely takes the place of god. So starving, slaving, and murdering people becomes justified if percieved to be in favor of the state, where the state is seen as a representation of the people and greater good, a mechanism for the interests of "the working class".

Not to mention the total decay of society that occurs when there are no morals (mostly from religion). Now acceptable to be a 13 yo slut, abortion, drugs, porn, rampant rape, 50% divorce rates, family completely destroyed etc.

Show me where I say liberals are the only non-believers. Let's try and hard here to distinuish between the unviversal and the relative. I didn't say anything about individuals who are degenerates and are religious/non-religious, I said look at society in the absence of morals, which absolutely come mostly from religion. Sure a lot of atheists are moral and a moral society can exist without religion, but religion ties society together. Religion fosters community, family, purpose, how to live, which allows for a strong moral fabric that permeates throughout.

And for all those saying there's no point to these conversations as no one's going to change anyone else's mind....what a close minded way of looking at it. I've personally helped a couple friends become atheists after just sharing facts and discussing possibilities, it's a truly fulfilling and free feeling to liberate yourself from the confining shackles that religion places on you. But don't ever just take my word or anyone else's or from a book...do research yourself, lots of people are. Remember, us atheists are the fastest growing "belief" (or lackthereof) group in the world!

I was raised Catholic and went to church every Sunday, but I am now agnostic. I believe there is no way to know for sure whether or not there is a higher being, so I'm not going to waste my time practicing arbitrary rituals, etc.

I am agnostic too. I believe in the concept of god but not under any organised religion umbrella.

It's been a long process, but I believe. I started at the end of the spectrum and asked myself if there was a God. Of course there's a God. The earth doesn't revolve in perfect symmetry around a random minor star on its own. Then I went from there. I saw that there is true evil in the world. I have twin nieces that I love very much and there is a risk everyday that someone will rape, abuse, or kill them. There is true evil in the world. Since I know there is evil, there has to be good. And since I know there is good, it has to be defined. I know that I'm a pretty good person in a lot of respects, but I know that when I go before a perfect God, he will know everything that I've done, and I am guilty before a Holy God. I started reading the Bible for myself and I saw the truth. That evil has a name and he is the god of this world, Satan. I read about the sinful nature that is in everyone, and how it's obvious. Sexual immorality, anger, envy, selfishness, etc. Then when I read all 4 Gospels, faith came to me. What I read, man could not make up. The Gospel and salvation is a miracle. Having my sins forgiven and instantly given the righteousness of Christ not of my works but because of Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection...it's awesome. Romans 5:8 says that while were dead in sin, Christ died for us. When we come to Christ, we are justified before God. It is not of works but in faith alone.

The more I read the Bible, I love learning about the Lord and his great love for me. How rich is God? He is better than sin, and better than life itself. Our life here on earth is just a vapor, and will be gone in an instant. But a treasure beyond imagination is looming just around the corner for those who believe and follow Jesus.
