I was born and raised Catholic... as far as I know I still am... I believe God put us here, yet I believe in Evolution, that Adam and Eve aren't real, but just a story to clue the "early ones" in....
I believe in science, big bang, carbon dating.. all of it... all I believe is that "something" put it there... made gravity and the laws that make the world go round... this "God" even made the internet to troll in... I believe/know I can still follow my faith, and it doesn't crumble because I believe in this...
I believe Jesus was the son of God... and that even throughout all the fuckups of religion, especially my own, that I'm still better off believing in something than not... and organizing my spiritual thoughts in a way that makes me be a better person on the planet...
I believe in Miracles... Including those ones in which I have the other side... They seem to be more memorable...
I know many Atheists/Agnostics that can have a reasonable discussion about the subject of the origins of the universe without getting bent out of shape...
I believe that you are a tool if you don't believe Jesus existed... the only thing that makes an Atheist different then myself is where we put Jesus Theologically/historically... You don't I do... why can't we just leave it at that...Comment -

They can be... But you'd be surprised when you bury the bullshit how similar believers of a higher power and those non believers are... At least the intelligent ones... Many Atheists/Aggiest can easily accept Biblical history, just don't accept the premise of the inspiration... like arguing who's the better team/...Comment -

So basically you dont believe everything that has been completely proven to be wrong and just believe the shit that no one could absolutely disprove since they are just blind faith, so basically you believe the entire bible is horseshit but that its the word of an all perfect all knowing God, well thats good. I guess if you realize the bible doesnt "literally" contain a word of truth then its easier to be a "believer"

This is an interesting thread. I've come to the conclusion that around 60% of gamblers don't believe in God. Which is fine... everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and whomever they want to worship. People can worship a stack of empty White Castle hamburger boxes if they wanted to... I went to private Catholic schooling K-12. It wasn't that bad actually... the education was well worth it. Made me a better person. Going to Mass was mandatory each and every week... so you develop a religious sense. Once you reach 18... you're technically on your own... life chages you especially if your parents or other family members don't go to church. Let me just say this... even though we technically are suppose to worship the same God... example Catholics, Christians, Baptists etc... everyone is out to prove that "THEIR" God is better. Which if you talk to majority of Catholics... we don't force religion down your throat. Christians and Baptists will more than likely try to convert you. A Catholic will just explain to you the do's and dont's and let you make your own choice in life. But now approaching 34 years old... and witnessing devastations throughout the world... I question my own faith at times? I would like to believe I'm a pretty sound individual... and I'd like to think I've helped more than I ever hurt. The one reason I keep believing... is the Bible. I will tell you why... take a good look at how it was created. All the high tech wording... how many years it was passed down... even if you aren't religious... it's still a book to read. Just like if someone wanted to learn more about astrology... well they would pick up a book and read about it... and say wow! I never knew that! The prophets... the way the described Jesus... etc. If this never happened... this book would of never surfaced. The power is in the Bible. You don't need to see a picture of Jesus... you can always remain skeptical... But any Catholic version of the Bible I highly recommend. I've dated a Baptist girl before... and we always argued about religion.. well mostly her... I really didn't give a hoot to be honest... I just wanted peace in the relationship. But you get a good ole attractive Southern Baptist girl who is very opinionated... LOOK OUT!! LOL There's where the religious wars started! LOL But anyways point being... you don't need to see a picture of Jesus... the proof is in the Bible... and Jesus didn't write the Bible... his followers did. So why would 50+ people write about 1 man if he never existed? And... out of these 50+ people a third of them were sometimes at war with each other. But all of them believed. Think about it.
As for churches or preachers that use the "good word" to gain extra money. Yes, it's called religious abuse. Abusing the system. Everyone knows who they are... I know a few preachers in my area who actually don't even throw their donation checks in their own "church's bank account"..... they actually cash their checks at 3rd party cash checking places... because they don't want a trace. And these are the people who preach the good Lord's word??? Kind of sick actually.
Remember one thing in life... any goodness can be tarnished. It's a part of life. Doesn't mean you have to follow hatred or deception.Comment -

I am Agnostic - I dont necassarily believe but I do not dis-belief (which seperates Agnostics from Atheists). I generally believe religion is good up until a point where people think they are better for being religous or they judge others based on their beliefs.Comment -

You ARE stupid. Most of the world is though so don't feel bad. It is all made up by us a long time ago. It has just been pounded into your head so much it has brainwashed you into believing. The church used to condemn people for thinking the world is round. They have now decided that is in fact round because of proof. There will never be "proof" that God doesn't exist so people will keep brainwashing themselves. No one wants to believe that once you are dead the game is over. It is equivalent to being a scared child all of your life. Face reality and enjoy life to it's fullest because this is all you get.

I grew up believing. As I got older I still believed but I was not one to go to church and stuff. Later on I started questioning my faith. I wasn’t becoming a non-believer but things just didn’t make sense to me.
Now I realize that I am agnostic. I don’t not believe but at the same time there really isn’t anything to make me believe either. I do not hold contempt for those that do or don’t believe though. I think people need something to believe in, hold faith in or look forward to and if God is something that gives them hope then more power to them. I also don’t think people should look at someone who has faith or is a true believer as a simpleton either.Comment -

It's actually unknown who wrote many books in the Bible. For example the book of Matthew, was NOT written by the disciple Matthew. It was actually written 70+ years AFTER the supposed death of Jesus. Same for the other gospels. Just because the Bible has "Mark" or "Luke" written at the start of a chapter, Christians assume (wrongfully) that the book was written by that person...as if they just found the Bible under a rock one day and started printing it. In reality the authors of a lot of books in the Bible are unknown, and after being written they were copied, translated, re-copied, re-translated, etc. The books have been changed a lot over the years, not to mention the fact that they contain a lot of contradictions. I'm not attacking you Moneyshot, it just amazes me how many Christians don't really understand their Bibles.
Muslims will make the same argument for Muhammed. Buddhists will say the same for Siddartha Guatama. I often ask Christians about this very thing. I wrote a little comedy bit about it a while back. The setting is around 15 years after God created Adam and Eve. Here's the bit:
