Guys go to the store(s) and get prepared. If it's as bad as they predict you will be stuck for a week at home. Fill up the pantries and fridge and have some outdoor coolers handy in case the power goes out to keep the meat and beer cold. Buy some charcoal or gas for the grill.

KC area has worse ice storms than snow storms. The weight of the ice on the trees makes them fall over into homes roofs, powerlines fall down due to the weight of the ice on them. I believe it was 2001 the last time i seen all of KC covered in ice. Looked like something right out of the movies.

Calling for anywhere from 8-24 lake effect near Chicago....I'm going out on a limb and say everything will be alot tamer than they are forecasting.

Cold weather is great. Snow is beautiful. You don't want to move. You love long winters. There's no such thing as cabin fever. You will never even think about moving south for the warmer weather. Unless you keep going all the way till you get to Florida. You won't like the south, and they don't want you anyway. You hate heat and humidity more than ice and snow. These are not the droids you're looking for.
