To clarify:

I mean to type, you mention a single idea, to wit, opening his own forum and obviously there is absolutely nothing crazy about that. Many people do that. Very simple task. So what are the other ideas that you are referencing? I am not privy to his recent posts.

I was a senior admin from the now defunct baseball.com. for eight years, they are out of business and in their heyday they had over 8500 members.
He'll never make it.
He has no idea the costs involved to own, maintain and operate a board.
Who's going to sponsor him?

also he doesn't have a proven track record yet, hes been on a short hot streak but nothing solid. Reminds me of Randizzle who ran hot for a season but been cool since. Best of luck to him though if he does it.

Depends.
There are a lot of factors involved.
Will it be developed by the owner, is the owner savvy in programming?
If not, he needs to hire someone who knows PHP, java, PERL, etc. etc.

There is hardware involved, servers cost money...........

Sponsors offset costs, but in this day and age, who's going to sponsor a startup website when there are many successful, established boards out there.

Tons of factors involved, if I had more time I could go into more detail, but I got dinner.

Total bullshit. I had a message board and website for years. Line up a few moderators and you are off. It was something of a headache at times and often time intensive; paid for it all myself.

Sponsor? **** sponsors, why be beholden to sponsors? I had an equipment sponsor but they had zero influence as to my forum.

Domain name: ~15 bucks a year
Sever: ~200 bucks a year

Set it up yourself or find a friend; stepson took care of mine, gratis.

That's where your problem was, You Were a Senior admin person. What??? you and all the other Senior Admin people sucking up all the sponsor money, and a bunch of Junior snippits running the site. Who needs a bunch moderators, let it go man, it could police itself. IMO that's alot of the problem here, too many moderators sticking their nose in and creating alot of the BS and haters that are on here. LGO justs wants to do his thing, he's having fun at what he does, not necessarily wanting to make money on a venture that he enjoys doing.
He just likes to stick it to the Man, and sometimes the Man sticks it to him.
Some people are way to serious about this gambling forum, like their making a fukking living hanging around a website with a lot degenrates.
If your good at capping and make a living at it, you ain't hanging around The SBR Forum, that's for damn sure.............
