For the record, I don't think I'm actually a pro because I'm a certified, card-holding, "SBR PRO". It's just a clever marketing device that gives me an extra 6 points a day to waste at the Blackjack table. I was going to be depositing with Diamond anyway (for BTP), no reason to just deposit $50 so I threw in $200.

I don't understand the animosity to the program though. It's not that big a deal either way, imo.

Agree....if you're gambling, especially the way some of the folks talk big $$, $200 bucks is a drop in the bucket. As much as the site has given me in tips playing soccer and baseball games, the $200 bucks is really pennies. Personally, it's the way of the world...everybody wants something for nothing.

Sharp post. Its running about 15-20%.

The upgrade to Pro is a win-win. Guys who want double points and extra benefits are getting them and guys who are not interested or don't have an account at present don't. We are not interested in a huge drive to get guys in. We are already giving away thousands of new points to the Pros daily and organizing new Pro contests. All is good, the Pro's will be well taken care of and the non Pros will still have all they have now.

Actually for about 3 months I had my points turned off. I don't care about the points. The only reason I turned them back on was because we were running a hedge fund during the World Cup and needed to be able to place bets at the book. I can easily ask John to turn them back off again.

The only benefit I see is getting an additional 6 points every day. Since I don't care about points give me one reason on why should I become a Pro? I can easily become one since I have more money than it is required funded at a sponsor now.

The reason I have 19X more posts than you is because I have much more many interesting topics to talk about than you. I participate in pretty much all the sub forums because I like sports. I make posts in football, basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey and tennis forums. I also make posts about politics, women and a myriad of other topics that posters bring up all the time at PT.

Yep, I've realised that this week that depositing is a major hassle as well. Since JJ screwed my Moneybookers account, I've spent ages trying to find another way to deposit at a book that has a decent payout option for us. Other than bundling my son up in the middle of winter to drive 90 minutes in traffic to a friggin ** agent, there aren't many options left. And if it's that much of a hassle to deposit, what will it be like to get a withdrawal? I think I may be out of luck here.

I'm all for the program but it seems that the hassle of deposits and withdrawals don't make much sense for us considering we're able to gamble freely at Australian and European books with no fuss at all. Obviously there are non-Americans who will feel it's worth it if they've already jumped through the hoops and currently utilise one of the sponsor books. But for me personally the lengths I've already tried to go to just to stick a measly $200 in a book that I most likely won't use anyway far outweigh the benefit of an extra 6 points a day.

Maybe SBR can award Pro memberships to posters that reach certain posting benchmarks and they can verify they are posting from an overseas IP so they wouldn't be left out of the program.
