    MLB Playoff Ratings Way Down

    https://www.sportsvideo.org/2018/10/10/147726/

They are basically getting lapped by meaningless NFL games. Like TNF of the Pats game last week got 8 million viewers, most these MLB games are getting 1-2 million viewers. MLB playoff games are down like 40% from last season.

While I like MLB, they are in trouble. Doesn't help that they play games during the day on weekdays and put them on FS1 and MLB Network. I don't care what sport you are, you aren't going to compete with the popularity that is the NFL. Shorten the season and start opening day earlier and try to avoid competing with NFL.

I'm watching cfb over MLB today, although I'll probably watch some of the Astros game.

This. Reading the entire article, it seems like regular season, especially regional ratings were pretty good.

I'm an Indians and pseudo Stro's fan because I live in Houston and I was shocked they would schedule games at noon on a school day. How the fukk are you going to get kids interested in the game, while they're in fukking school? So damn stupid. They could have staggered the games like NCAA March madness but too many old fats running this shit are more concerned with tradition instead of being cutting edge. Dinosaurs

Stop trying to compete with football, you'll never win. I doubt they will change much, but if they shortened the season to about 140 and started a month earlier, they would possibly avoid NFL. Maybe NFL could even push there season back a week or two.

Would LeBron be popular is he only spoke spanish?

It is true though, NBA players at least learn english. Ichiro's been here for almost two decades and probably can't speak a sentence of english.

Playoff Day games are not good. The dodgers/Rockies game when everyone was working was horrible. Nobody showed up to the game because of the scheduling.

cable is down everywhere and the net keeps a lot of watchers not statistically inferred
then you have surveys and companies that estimate things, it's just not hard data

While I agree that I doubt the numbers are super accurate and there is probably room for error. Sure they may be off some, but even if they are, it is still down a lot. Some of these games are down 50% compared to two years ago. Lets be honest, baseball is older people, they ain't streaming lol.

    It is

I actually backed out of a purchase agreement for a minor league team based solely on attendance and viewership numbers thru August this year.

Kids have 0 attention span. Noone stays 9 innings, have to overcharge at ballpark for everything and need an expanded cable package to watch games at home.

Sport is miles ahead of other leagues in terms of interactive and online access but game just cant connect to 13-30 yr olds anymore.

How many of the games in this study were on cable networks and not on antenna tv ?
They are only shooting themselves in the foot by doing that.
We have to cap games and can't spend time on stuff like this...
