Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has been suspended for Saturday night’s game against the San Diego Padres, after he made contact with Padres manager Andy Green during an argument after the first inning in Friday night’s contest. Both Roberts and Green were ejected following the incident, which caused both benches to clear.

Green and Dodgers starting pitcher Alex Wood have been fined for their roles.

After Los Angeles jumped out to a 4-0 lead on a grand slam from catcher Austin Barnes in the first inning on Friday, things quickly took a turn when Wood began to bark at Padres infielder Jose Pirela, who was standing on second base and was believed to be relaying signs to batter Manuel Margot.

Wood stepped off the mound and began yelling at Pirela, which caused both benches to be warned in the bottom of the first. As both managers met after the first inning behind home plate, Green said something to Roberts and began to walk away, but Roberts followed, yelling, and bumped the San Diego skipper, causing both benches to rush out and step in between the two.

Dave Roberts is a washed out San Diegan. Andy Green won't be back next year, I hope.
