just bought my first ever car, CAR INSURANCE IS A FUKKIN RIP OFF!
just bought my first ever car, a used 2002 nissan altima. fukkin spent all of friday calling like 30 car insurance companies. the highest quote i got was $680 a month! you think i was renting a god damn apartment! the lowest quote i got was $325 a month, such bs. especially considering i have a clean driving record except for a minor speeding ticket going over 18km. this shit is a big scam, looks like i gotta settle for the $325 a month. fukkin bullshit, no wonder so much people take public transit. apparently its just cause im 23 years old everyone said...

When I got my first car the insurance pissed me off too, pisses me off even more now seeing I have never been in a serious crash.

Your going to get fukked until you turn 25. Until then I would try and convince your parents or good friend to put the car on their policy. It's also cheaper to add several cars to a policy and try and get a group rate.

BTW -an insurance agent once told me that young males under 25 make up the majority of car accidents thus the high rates. Sucks...

It's all about the numbers and they have you by the balls either way. When your young, you pay more for car insurance but less for life insurance but once you get older your car insurance goes down and you feel good until you check out the cost to insure your old ass.

                                Kav,

Have a look at your deductible, see how much changing it changes your rates... if you're at a $1000 deductible right now, see how much your rates go down by if you go to $1500, or $2000... you might be surprised...

$325 a month was the cheapest you could find? Wow.

Keep looking, has to be cheaper than that out there.

don't forget the high gas prices in Canada, in addition to the insurance.

Insurance sucks. Until you crash your car into a house, kill a couple small children and their pets and destroy a one of a kind ming vase. Then insurance doesn't suck.

And to think people who live in Jersey complain about their rates. I can't believe a rate in Canada for that car is almost $4k a yr. Your zip code must be in a high risk area or your credit score is driving the rate. Maybe both?

325 a month? It's prob. Better to buy a $1000 car, drive. Let the car's registration expire, let your licence get suspended, then get arrested, have the car impounded, and get out the next day. Then just pay to get the car out of impound. They won't give you jail time, just a fee. So basically your fee for d. On susp. Lic. And impound fee would be less than 325/mo.

But yeah insuarnce is a scam. if you do get in a crash, your company will prove that either it was your fault, or the damages aren't covered. Basically your agent will contact the other party in the crash and try to find info that can un-cover you.
