    Wednesday early play...
STL (Waca) -117 Price is cheap on a team getting ready to go on a run. Pirates reality settling in on the loss of Marte. Good play on a home team facing a team that may be reeling right now. Let's keep the hot streak moving along and good luck if you play along.

JJ. I think the Cards have regressed with age a little although they are much better than their record shows. Just a slow start is all, but I think going forward you'll see a better team.

I doubt the Pirates are "reeling." I just don't believe one player on a baseball team makes that much difference. Just my opinion.

Oh, with certain players, it has a big effect. Subs cannot replace Marte's hitting or defense. He will be missed. Big time.

I get what you are saying, but baseball has what 25 men in the roster. Yes, Marte is good, but he's not Dale Murphy.

Not comparing him with any hall of famers, but his WAR rating of 4 suggests he is not an easy replacement unless they can make a deal before trade deadline. It puts the Pirates in a really bad spot. Not only that, the players love him in the clubhouse, so there's an emotional issue involved as well. What I'm saying is I don't think the Pirates will do well without him, at all. It's gut check time for them, IMO.
