Some good info in here. It's also a personal choice, tho:

    1) Golden Nugget. Reasonable prices. Location not the best, but the rooms are very nice.

    2) Rio. Off-strip, so you can navigate easier. Rooms are all suites, so pretty spacious.

    3) Palace Station. Some will call it a dump. Some good restaurants. Everything u want within short walk.

Depends what you might by "middle of the road" and what location. Decent but not high end on strip might be Flamingo's, Planet Hollywood or Mirage.

Nut, that's the way to look at it. You're not gonna be spending much time in the room. Just a little shut-eye.

Plenty of ways to spend $$ in Vegas. Don't go hi-rent on the room. You won't get full utility if you're bouncing around poker/sportsbook.

My 2-cents, I like my Rio and PalaceStation recommendations above. RedRock, if you get a good deal, if very nice, too - a step up in class.

I'm very comfortable at Palace Station. Poker/sports-book/table-games within 100 yard-walk. Oyster Bar is great for early-morning snack (too crowded at other times). Charcoal steak-house has good deals, usually $25 off if you spend $50+.

Rio is similar. Sportsbook right next to poker. Live poker, and 4 tournies per day.

It's the middle of winter, you could get a good price pretty much anywhere you stay. This time of year they need to fill rooms.

That's too much for Red Rock, imho. It's a bit of a drive from other casinos, if you're looking to bounce around.

My recommendation for Red Rock is to establish some Player Card pts at Pal Station and maybe Boulder Station. When you get on their radar, u should get a free offer for Red Rock (at some point). Try it out and see if u like it.

Don't get me wrong, RedRock is nice. I just don't work my way there too often, just based on location.

    Yep, Rio is cool.

    Low rate.

    Nice Rooms.

    I'd select Rio.
