Australia A League soccer rules regarding thunder and lightning state that matches are halted and immediately suspended if lightning is noted within a designated proximity of the stadium ( typically within 10 - 13 km's ). FIFA , THE WORLD GOVERNING SOCCER BODY , also has the same rules and regulations regarding lightning. I can give you a series of games from this past season in A League soccer where the league instituted the rule stated above. You can continue to deny , or just look up the FIFA ans A League rule regarding thunder and lightning.

A- League does not halt matches for 1 lightning strike 20 miles away and reset the delay for an extra 30 minutes each new one like happens for many sports in the USA. Neither does NRL or AFL. All those sports only delay when an actual thunder storm comes near the stadium. It wasn't even raining or showing any sign of thunder/lightning near that WC stadium when the second delay was called.

So far you have told me about two lists of incidents in Australia/Europe but not revealed a match on them. I remain fairly sure none of the matches on your lists will turn out to have been treated like it is in the USA.

Just point to a game on one of your lists to prove I am a complete idiot who does not know what happens in my own country. Viola, you win your argument and can stop being stubbornly obtuse about it. ;-)

At least in the US, I think their ulterior motive is that the leagues don’t like bad weather including rain. And generally you will have rain with thunderstorms. So they make up this rule about safety so they can simply wait until the rain stops. They rather see sunny skies than have a game played in the rain.

I merely addressed a question asked about the lightning delay at the France game. I stated with 100% certainty that it is a global rule to halt soccer games due to lightning. At no point did i sway one way or another on whether or not i felt it was a just rule. Suddenly you start asking me for situations where games where halted. I gave you plenty , even though it was irrelevant to me. Pavyracer provided a link that told of 11 deaths during a game etc etc. You seem to have a bug up your ass as it relates to me. The feeling is not mutual , i merely passed along the actual FIFA Rule in addition to the Australian A league that has the exact same rule in its rules and regulations. Whether or not anyone takes the rule seriously or not , is of no concern to me. I really could care less.
Moving on to spending time capping games so i can make a few dollars while enjoying a game i am passionate about

Which is correct in my experience.

Im Canadian and nervous about the game. A tie gets us the #1 seed. Switzerland are the better side on paper , but havent shown their worth yet. Its at 1.91 / -112sh
