Partly, I felt I was getting too old for such childish things, but mainly I could see the writing on the wall with the way Jerry was running that organization. I'll admit, I backslid a little bit when Parcells came to town, I thought maybe things could change, only to realize nothing changes with Jerry running the show.
In the late 90's I lived near Indy and being a lifelong NFL fan it was a natural fit to become a transplant Colts fan. I watched the Colts have great a regular season and playoff choke year after year. They did get one, beating Rex Grossman (from Blomington, IN) in the Super Bowl. But soon after that my fanhood in Indy faded, probably because I moved back to Wisconsin and lost my organic "fit" with Indy.
After that I was a Packers fan, by default, living in Wisconsin most of my life and being around cheeseheads every day. But after they won their last Super Bowl, it seems like every bandwagon jackass crawled out of the woodwork claiming to be a Packer fan, making it impossible for me to be a fan. So now I'm done with any sort of fanhood for good.
