Casper, I tip, even when I get crappy service, I tip. And then I usually never return to those places. I even follow an old 'unwritten rule' about tipping a higher percentage of the bill for breakfast servers since that has historically been the cheapest meal of the day at restaurants, yet it doesn't mean the server does any less work.

But you're blaming one guy -- Who, oh by the way, plays for the team you absolutely abhor -- for a problem that has been created by your employer. Do you tip the flight attendant that fetches you your drink? Do you tip the guy at Home Depot that helps you load up 20 bags of mulch or a bundle of lumber? Lakerboy, as I have been in the service industry longer than you and since I have DEALT with the man, I am not only justified with my statement, but qualified to assess my opinion. As far as tipping goes, I GAVE EXCELLENT SERVICE. What is his excuse now? If you work in the service industry as long as you said you have, you must never have bartended or served. No server or bartender would agree with your statement.

Casper I own 2 restaurants that have total revenues of over $7 mill a year.If my servers dont get tips its usually their own fault. Sure you have cheap customers who dont tip regardless of the service or quality. I dont have many servers working for me who have the attitude you have thats why i am successful. I dont want people who count their tips in their head all day. It all evens out in the end. I also did serve and bartended for over 4 years. There isnt anything i dont know about the service business including the reality that most people working as servers are usually greedy as hell.

Back when I was 19 and living in Michigan, we could drive to Windsor to drink legally. The Canadian servers/bartenders LOVED Americans because we not only tipped US dollars (back when they were worth much more than they are today) but many of us tipped well.
