#3^
500 million is probably going to be the starting point, I think it's going to cost any club more than 600 (depending on the package) to land him.
He's not just a generation great, he's probably going to go down as an all time great.
He's on pace to shatter Ruth's career WAR metric, which currently is the best.Comment -

#16Originally posted by JAKEPEAVY21Stories from someone who was ten years old in '86?
The data center I worked in at that time was three blocks, a short ten minute walk to a higher end Irish bar.
It was the very same bar a lot of the 1986 Mets would congregate at after some home game.
This comes from the manager that hired me, he was about 20 years or so my senior, also a big baseball fan, and an avid drinker as well.
I dislike to generalize, and those who do, but usually drinkers have hyperbolic tendencies, my former boss was a straight shooter (see what I did there, pardon the pun) so I have no reason not to believe him.
He told me stories about how he used to drink with Keith and a few others, and pretty much told me they were insane party animals, last call is 4am in Port Washington, he told me on may occasion they would pretty much have to throw them out at 4:30 am or bar ownership would be facing all sorts of ordinance violations.
I can relate to you other stories, but they're for another time and another day.
Not for nothing, Gwynn's swing needs no mention, his swing has been in the swing hall of fame forever, it's legendary.Comment -
