here in the new era of passing being all the rage, yes.
back in the Bob Devaney days of the mid to late 60's and on to the Osborne days, those big corn-fed "big uglies" as the late, great Keith Jackson used to call them, were quite a weapon in the old Big 8.
now, I believe you are correct that they cannot seem to attract the blue chip best athletes esp at the wing positions where you can get out on the perimeter in space and have distinct athletic advantages to move the chains and then 3-4 times a game break a huge play for chunk yardage and TD's of ~50 yards.
that does not exist in Lincoln anymore. the fact they even have any athletes as it is, is because of that beautiful red "N" on the side of those crisp white helmets.
i vastly overrated their ability to make a move up this year.
it's only 1 game, but it is certainly not a good omen of things to come this Fall.....

i have the dumbshitt on ignore now since he did not take my counter-wager that the 4 schools who combined to win only .420 of their reg season games last year would return this year to win at least .570 of their reg season games.

Auburn won't improve much from last year with Bo Nix still quarterbacking like he is in high school. He wasn't even their best offensive player last year. The RB Tank should be getting 25 touches this year, if he doesn't and Bo is throwing 25-30 times then Auburn has a losing conference record. 8 wins max for Auburn after firing the coach for winning 6 of 10 last year.

i understand your point and agree somewhat.
i think new HC Harsin will inject some life into this offense and they really needed a new voice.
i think he will have some success there.
as it were, i also believe Malzahn was a great pick up for UCF after Heupel left.

did you lose money?
last year they were 3-5
so far 0-1 with upcoming:
v Fordham = Win
v Buffalo = Win
at OU = Loss
at Mich St = toss up
v Nwestern = toss up
v Mich = toss up
at Minny = likely Loss
v Purdue = likely Win
v Ohio St = Loss
at Wisky = Loss
v Iowa = toss up
2-1 going into OU game
after that I have 4 losses or likely losses, a likely win, and 4 toss ups
win the toss ups (three of the four at home) and a likely win, and you are 7 wins and then one upset and it's 8-4
even 7-5 is a nice improvement win percentage wise vs 3-5

Nebraska's season is FAR from over. Far from it.
in the last 35Y i have simply seen too many teams that had veterans in key positions like QB, start the season horribly and then come back run off multiple victories in the next 11 games.
HUSKERS going 7-5 or better still quite likely.

7 wins about right. They are a 7-8 win program at peak and their delusional fans better get used to it. They will become Kansas with history if they don’t realize the glory days are over. Michigan too. 8-9 win program.

You just will not admit that you know NOTHING when it comes to football. So 7-5 or better is still "quite likely". Well let's see if you even have a clue. We start off at 0-1. That means you have 4 more losses left. At OU and at Wisconsin are sure road losses. Home games against Ohio State and Iowa are also sure losses. That adds up to 4 losses. So "better" is definitely out, unless you think Nebraska can upset one of those teams, in which case you should be thinking suicide. So the question now becomes can Nebraska beat Michigan st home or Minnesota or Michigan State on the road. Tey have to win all three for you to get to 7-5. Quite likely? You really are A DUMB F**K!!

Are you ill? Do you have some type of mental blockage that forces these ridiculous thought into your mind? Obviously you will NEVER wager against me. But since you stated that "...HUSKERS going 7-5 or better still quite likely." I am going to hold you to this. I am going to hold you to the fact that you meant that the Huskers have a 50/50 chance to finish 7-5. Since 50/50 is about as even as you can get, I am going to wager 1000 points that Nebraska does NOT win 7 regular season games or more. Anything less than 7-5 is a winner for me and a loser for you. You were warned about running our mouth off too much. You failed to heed the warning. You CANNOT get out of this wager. If you fail to pay up at the end of the season, you will pay the price for welshing.

I would expect them to be 2-1. But..... I'm thinking they will end up around 4-8. They have a better chance of going 2-10 than 6-6 to be honest.

Nebraska and Michigan both did not impress me. They couldn't stop W. Michigan in the first quarter until WMich star receiver got hurt. After that they were one dimensional. The other receivers were awful, dropping open passes, no separation, poor blocking. This is going to be a long year for UM.
Nebraska beating Fordham? That's like playing junior high school kids. Illinois getting curb stomped today told me all I need to know about Nebraska. They are just not very good. I see 3 more wins this season.
Florida State/ ND is a statement game. If they can win that game, they have a great shot at a turnaround season. The ACC is down, so they could do well.

MACker i think you hate Harbaugh and Frost and it is clouding your vision. i don't blame you because they are not likable.
Illinois? they lost their starting QB v nebraska but won on adrenaline. they were busy celebrating the win over a storied program and got caught unprepared. teams lose or look crappy the week after a big "upset" all the time. Illinois was only +7 v Nebraska but it was a chance to beat a storied program and they did, so they were not focused all week.
Nebraska sched has the following games left which IMO are Wins or at the worst toss ups:
(vs Buffalo, @ Mich St, vs NU, vs Mich, vs Purdue, vs Iowa)
they can go 5-1 there and they are at 6-6 and bowl eligible, vs last year's disaster.
also, be careful calling an entire conf down after just one week.
ACC down?
Clemson just lost to Georgia who might be a Top 3 team when all is said and done. did you see the defense by BOTH schools last night?
Clemson could still run the table in the ACC or go 8-1 or whatever in conference.
UNC lost by it was to their own ACC brother VA TECH so maybe the Hokies are up ??
Miami got boatraced by Bama. i don't need to say anything. The Canes will be just fine in conference.
be careful with blanket statements about schools and conferences after just one week, my brother

Nebraska is more likely to go 1 and 5 in those games. Maybe 2 and 4. Mich state is loaded, Iowa loaded, Michigan is more talented and Northwestern and Purdue are toss ups. At this point, even Buffalo is no gimme. I don’t know what you see in this team? Of course Illinois was full of themselves but they are who we thought they were. An average team that can lose to a non power 5 team just like NB.
The ACC has been down for years. Clemson has been the one quality team, which got boat raced in the playoffs last year and is setting themselves to get boat raced again this year. Look at their schedule. UGA was their Super Bowl. Now they’ll go undefeated and people will say that they are still the best. Both those teams offenses looked like the 1900’s. QB play was horrible, play calling even worse. UGA will lose at least 2 or 3 games this season. They are no way a top 10 team, let alone top 3. Kirby is a great recruiter but average to poor in game coach. They should have won that game by 2 TDs.
There is nothing that tells me the ACC is up. GT and Duke both lost to FCS schools. Miami wasn’t even competitive. Your 2nd best team, UNC and your best team, Clemson both lost. Who else do you think is going to represent the ACC? FSU? VaTech? Doubtful. Clemson is the only team in that conference that has top talent. The rest are trash. And Clemson is nowhere as good as they were last year.

MACker please be careful saying "Mich State is loaded" when they were terrible LY and just beat Northwestern who we do not know much about at all right now. Purdue? i will tell you right now that if Adrian Martinez is healthy, Nebraska is more than a TD fave over NWestern and Purdue at home.....maybe even 9.5 pt fave in both games.
Also, be careful calling UNC the second best team in the ACC based on last year's performance. they lost multiple WR targets and the two best RB's from LY so the loss at VA TECH did not surprise me.
maybe the Hokies have some swag back?
the ACC likely sends at least half their conference (7 out of 14) to bowls, and Clemson finishes Top 10 and Miami likely Top 15.
UNC, Va Tech, and several other schools vie for Top 25 spots on the rankings that come out after Thanksgiving.
just wait and watch............

I’m not basing my opinion on 1 week. NB has sucked for quite awhile. They are not winning in recruiting, which translates to not winning on the field. Take out Clemson and the ACC recruits near the bottom of the P5, even though they are in the most fertile grounds.
Auburn looked good but they are in the toughest division in CFB. Michigan looked good but I have doubts about their defense. NB? Forget about it. FSU? They have been on a downward spiral since Jimbo left. Chances are that continues to be honest. We might not really see it as they play in the WAY DOWN ACC. ND may tell us where they are as a program. They have the opportunity to have a breakthrough season but my gut tells me they end up around .500.

The four schools i noted in my initial post and thread title, combined to .420 win pct last year's reg season.
i have them combining to .570 or better so +15 points in percentage performance this reg season, combined
