I think OP was right; the gist of what he is saying is that if you are not one of the teams in the arms race, your chances of winning is very low.

These buyouts are only. helping the Nets and Lakers...jut when both teams were starting to look very vulnerable...That vulnerability was good for the sport.

It's good for the dilettante sports fan... people that just tune in from time to time to see how their favourite juggernaut is doing. But for an nba fan - or nba bettor - that watches he whole playoffs it spoils it. Why bother with the first three rounds of the playoffs? Just jump to the finals. Thankfully the Lakers do have some competition in the West, but the East is ruined.

No drummond is much more of a poor man's dwight howard than anything close to shaq. Shaq was an offensive force, so many moves with back to the basket. Drummond is just good for put backs and lobs etc.
