#424Originally posted by JohnGalt2341This one is for texhooper(his avatar that is). When I was a teen, I worked at a video store that wasn't particularly busy. So, I spent most of my time watching 80's movies when working alone, which was most of the time. I remember putting in the movie below once and the Manager made some wise crack about how terrible it was. Fukk her! And Rotten Tomatoes! I like this movie! It's from 1989... so it makes the cut.
I just stumbled across this. I definitely agree!
And it’s definitely the 80s, there’s actually a line where Daniel-San says “this is the 80s, can’t be so damn passive!” Even when I was a child watching that I was like, bro it’s 1989 that ain’t gonna age well. It sticks out every time I watch itComment -

#425And Burbs is a total classic. That and Joe Vs The Volcano are a couple of weirder older Hanks movies that I really like
My favorite line of the burbs is where Carrie Fisher and Hanks are on the second story deck and to his buddies down below she goes “he’s not coming down until he resembles the man I married” and Rick Ducommun goes “Carol we don’t have that kind of time.” That and when Ducommun is like “satan is good, satan is lord, satan is our pal” or whatever it is. What a great movie that is, great callComment -

#426Moonstruck was pretty funny and so was Raising Arizona back in the 80's with Nicolas Cage.
Honeymoon in Las Vegas was an instant classic but that was released in 1992

#429Being a diehard Atlanta Braves fan growing up (mainly because I could watch all of the Braves games on TBS) it was a big thrill seeing Bob Horner become only the 11th player in MLB history (at that time) to hit 4 HR in one game against the former and defunct Montreal Expos (now the Washington Nationals)!...thanks to the steroid era, all of those sacred accomplishments became obsolete during the 90's-early 00's. but getting back to Horner, only wore one batting glove. old school chunky player with a pot belly! but what a sweet, short batting swing he had. all wrists and arms. no exaggerated movements and no wasted fluid motions. It was a thing of beauty.

#440As a teen in the 80s I genuinely thought it was a decade so bad in terms of fashion and music nothing would ever be revived or thought about with nostalgic fondness.

#454Originally posted by packerd_00I remember you'd always see the preppies in the 80's with feathered hair. Was that actually a trend in the States or just something you'd see on tv?
