. I'm looking at this like I'm back in the day checking out the National Geographic for some of that Tribal Titty. Except this time I'm too old to rub one out.

You can easily tune into espn or any other sports channel on your iphone. kids today have no idea... we had to get the odds and/or wager by pay telephone. Then drive to the highest hill to listen to am radio fading in and out between buds and beers. THE GOOD OLD DAYS!!!Originally posted by kyhawk3 channels to watch. #335My buddy FH, used to sweat out the Red Sox games by getting the Sporting news and going over past games one by one, inning by inning.Originally posted by TheGoldenGooseYou are not old. No radio was the worst when traveling.
No west coast games could make the morning paper.
Hating Howard Cosell was a thing. I never got that. Howards interview with Ali were the best

#336His interviews WERE great. But how he treated people to get those interviews was appalling. He came into my stall at Pimlico when I was saddling my horse on Preakness day 1977 and when Shoemaker, who was going to ride my horse, came over to talk to me, Cosell stepped in front of me with his mic and camera crew and would not get out of my way. As a result, I had about 10 seconds to talk to Shoe before he got on my 2-5 shot to race. I did not get to tell him anything about the horses likes and dislikes. Long story short, shoe put him exactly where he did NOT want to be and got beat. Ran 5th out of 6. Won 3 out of his next 4 races with Maryland riders. Horses name was Go Bet if you want to check Equibase.com.Originally posted by kyhawkMy buddy FH, used to sweat out the Red Sox games by getting the Sporting news and going over past games one by one, inning by inning.

Cosell was an arrogant prick to me. Shoe apologized for him afterwards saying something like " he can be pushy sometimes". That was real nice of him but man did that suck. I wanted to win a race with Shoe riding my horse soooo bad. Never got another chance.
Yes I was in my early 20's and very young, but all the more reason to try and show at least an ounce of class whether you actually had it or not. The race was bad enough but it ruined Monday night football for me until he left the booth. Couldn't stand that big, tall, condescending jerk after that.
But other than that, he was alright I guess. Lol.Comment -

#349Lot's of memorable historical events occurred in the 80's:
Eruption of MT. St. Helens (1980)
Lady Diana and Prince Charles wedding (1981)
Iran Hostage crisis (1981)
Falkland Wars (1982)
Space Shuttle Challenger blowing up (1986)
Chernobyl Nuclear disaster (1986)
Berlin Wall coming down (1989)
Exxon Valdez oil spill (1989)
those are just off the top of my head...I'm pretty sure there are a few others as well.
Now in the sports world...
Miracle on Ice (1980)
49'ers winning four Super Bowls (80's accomplishment)
George Brett's pine tar incident (1983)
Lakerboy mentioned several others as well
and let's not forget Lee Elia's epic rant (1983)...Arguably the most profanity laced rant of all-time by an MLB manager during the season! He called the fans a bunch of goddamn unemployed bums and fukkin' coksukkers! LMAO! I'll never forget my dad in tears from laughing so hard!
