I think if you penalize welfare recipients when they have babies rather then reward them with $200.00 more for every kid would be a good idea for starters.. Deduct 10% of their welfare income with every kid they have while on welfare I say instead...

With more jobs and higher pay due to demand, the safety nets have been on the decline recently w/o congress
intervention to cut safety nets. In other words, the Repubs are late to the party.

As far as inner city people using the system, there aren't jobs within walking distance and need public
transportation, if available, to go where there are jobs.

I know in my area the work force is scarce. Warehouses were so desperate for help they went to the city
to have bus routes set up to their business so those in the city could get to work. If I remember correctly,
would even pay their bus fare.

Using congresses revenue neutral philosophy, if they are going to cut public safety nets, cuts need to be made
to the corporate welfare safety nets at probably 4 to 1.

What black drug dealers and prostitutes do you know on welfare? I know several and none of them are on welfare. 1 kid I used to coach is one of the biggest pill distributors in the state. He is very, very far from welfare. I know several black dancers as well and they wouldn't even think of collecting welfare.

I volunteered at a soup kitchen many, many years ago in St. Pete, Fla. It was an eye opener and a very humbling experience. It would break your heart to see a woman with several kids with no place to live because the husband abused her and kicked them out. Families living on the streets not sure where they can get their next meal. I met many veterans that risked their lives fighting in war for us but could not get a job back at home. They were proud to serve their country but their country abandoned them. How can a veteran with a purple heart be hungry? That is awful and should never happen in this country. But, there are too many people (many in this thread) that think an army vet with 1 or no legs should be able to take care of themselves. That they need to pull themselves up from their bootstraps, when they don't have any limbs to pull up because they were blown off by a land mine. We have an obligation to take care of our own.
