First, the average CEO makes 3-4 times what their workers make, that high number is just the top 100 companies. The increase at the largest companies is due to markets opening up to trade and the rise of companies that rely on cheap, low skilled labor rather than the higher skill levels relied on in the past. Secondly, of the largest 50 companies worldwide, 22 are based in America. Are you really shocked to find out that the pay gap at Verizon, the largest telecom company in the world, between the CEO and entry level workers is larger than you'll find at a telecom company that operates only in Norway?

Yes, even you can see a decline in wages and benefits with less and less unions. Labor unions are what brought
prosperity to the middle class. The wealth was spread out.
