#354But why blame Clinton? Why not blame Bush Sr or Reagan for not securing the airports? Didn't Reagan fukk up the Middle East in Lebanon, Iran and Libya? So why didn't he secure the airports since he was responsible for the creation of Al Qaeda? After all Al Qaeda was founded during his administration.Originally posted by DwightShrutenice try.
It has nothing to do with Bush. I can say Clinton had 8 years to secure the airports to prevent it from happening but that too would be weak.Comment -

#355Hmm I seem to remember Iran taking Americans hostage under Jimmy Carter and seem to remember once Reagan was elected they couldnt release them fast enough. Our airports and citizens were not in danger under Reagan, the middle east was scared to death of him. When someone got out of line like Libya we bombed their leader's house and no more problems from him.Originally posted by pavyracerBut why blame Clinton? #356These are the fukk ups of Reagan in the Middle East.
1. He sent Marines into Lebanon during Civil War and had them slaughtered.
2. He downed a civilian Iranian jet in the Gulf with a SAM from a destroyer. What a coward!
3. He bombed civilian targets in Libya primarily hospitals with children.
This bread the Al Qaeda and all the hatred people have in the Middle East for the US.
He did nothing to secure the airports. Back when he was a president there were no metal detectors or security and you could literally walk in at the gate the same way you go at a Greyhound bus stop. At that time cities like London and Paris had full airport security with metal detectors, bomb sniffing dogs and armed military with Uzis and HK-47's at every corner of the airports.
You said no one feared Reagan? What did he do when the Soviets downed the Korean jet in the Sea of Japan? Nothing. He wouldn't dare order an attack on a Soviet military base. But give him credit. He downed a civilian jet in Iran and bombed hospitals in Libya. I bet you those children and women he murdered were scared of him. Coward!Comment -

#358Obama's solution to any situation or crisis is throw a couple trillion at it, see how it works. For a guy who was running his mouth about Bush spending he sure is doing a good job of running us deeper and deeper in debt. By the time his term is up he will have spent more money than all the presidents combined at this rate.Comment -

#359I remember Reagan answering this question during the Presidential campaign "What will you do about the hostages if you win the election?". Candidate Reagan's answer was "I will tell the US military to go to Iran and bring the hostages back alive or the Ayatollah back dead".Originally posted by SBR_JohnHmm I seem to remember Iran taking Americans hostage under Jimmy Carter and seem to remember once Reagan was elected they couldnt release them fast enough. #364Do you think they would bring an end to the wars if they caught Bin Laden or confirmed his death?Originally posted by wtfwhy is everyone blaming bush for these wars, there was no wars when 9-11 happened
do you think there were be any wars if 9-11 DID NOT HAPPEN
that is the question
that is the question.
and what's 911 got to do with the iraq war?
Even Obama promised to bring 2 brigades home a month and have all troops out of Iraq by the end of 2009.
Now after breaking that promise, he's leaving 50k troops and saying all combat missions are over. Obama's exit is just as ridiculous as Bush's "missioned accomplished".
Kucinich may be a socialist loony, but he's spot on here.
Bottom line is Obama is puppet, just like Bush was, for the globalist agenda and the powers behind it.Who is in charge of our operations in Iraq , now? George Orwell? A war based on lies continues to be a war based on lies. Today, we have a war that is not a war, with combat troops who are not combat troops.
...
This is not the end of the war; this is simply a new stage in the campaign to lull the American people into accepting an open-ended presence in Iraq . This is not an honest accounting to the American people and it diminishes the role of the troops who will put their lives on the line. This is not fair to the troops, their families or the American people.
...
The cost of the wars has been estimated to be around $1 million per soldier per year. Each year the troop levels stay at 50,000 means another $50 billion is wasted. I object to spending billions of dollars to maintain a charade in Iraq while our own economy is failing and over 15 million Americans are out of work. I object to keeping any level troops in Iraq to maintain a war based on lies. It is time that Congress sees through the manipulation and finally acts to truly end the war by stopping its funding.Comment -

#365One of the single best reasons to like Obama is the fact that the far left is fast becoming a knife in the President's side. They hate that he isn't pushing their agenda. That tells me that he is far less "radical" than many of the demagogues of the right would have you believe. So the reality is the Obama is center left with a willingness to think big and really tackle the major issues or at the very least drive the conversation. At least he has ideas and attempts to implement them constructively. I am center right, a pragmatic conservative if you will. The Republican party finally weaned itself off the religious right and now they may lose their power to the Tea Party. But that is a different topic...........Comment -

unemployment will be down to around 8% by the time of the next election ... which will mean that there will be room to increase interest rates .. which in turn will allow the dollar to strengthen .. which will result in lower gas prices.
