Many lines come across the board on this one from unsophisticated lines that give Arizona the win to sharper forecasts favoring Wichita State. The general betting public, with no real numbers to be triggered in the race but use a variety of “handicapping” methods are uniting with Arizona here.
That said there are some groups seeking Wichita and those may include some of the sharper forecasters. I have Wichita State winning by about 16 points in a 137 or 138 point game.
Make no mistake I believe, with the pressures on Wichita, that Wichita should actually be favored here. I don’t have time to get into the mechanics on why the book opened where it did, but I can assure there is a reason they are holding at a pick.
If that line shifts toward Wichita in a in a sudden move and it appears to get steam, effectively letting the cat out of the bag, Wichita could be in trouble and the sharper groups could give one back. The blind squirrels will get their nut and never even realize why.
