Of course because that is the rule, but in reality the teams would much rather finish today and not lose off-day, especially if Padres would need to cross country for half-inning.

I wasn't watching the game, maybe someone who was could comment. Was it really so awful that they couldn't simply finish the last out in the top of the 9th without going to delay in the first place? Just curious. I would think given the situation the Padres would have rather gotten out of Dodge at that point and made the out. Sure they'll be happy with the W now though too.

Started drizzling with 1 out and looked like a typhoon right as first pitch with 2 outs was thrown. I think they would've finished the AB if it was a big lead but with 2 run gap, gotta be practical
