starts way before that. regardless of race, kids need two parents at home. but even having that guarantees nothing, only gives a kid the best chance. seeing that the vast majority of blacks are not only born out of wedlock, but also never experience a co-parenting household, this is an inherent cultural problem only they can fix. but as we all know in life, people change only when they want to change. until then, the rest of society basically needs to wait it out and encourage law enforcement to be as aggressive as possible with such flare-ups.

I don't know his background but given the likely scenario was that Mr. Gray would had to dodge bullets in the hood to receive his promised "equal" education in the lowest end of our apartheid system I think the victim characterization isn't all that unfair. Now, on the the other hand, if he won the birth lottery where his education benefited from the property taxes on the luxury dog houses his father built and he could return home to the safety of his air conditioned batting cage to wait for his trust fund to kick in so he could follow in daddy's footsteps to an elitist business school I would probably see a byproduct rap sheet like that as being a little more shocking.
