Three years later and we are all still
    Wow,

It's been almost 3 years since I quit my job and moved to vegas. After 3 months I quit gambling after 6 months I moved back. I have been with my new company for almost 3 years and making 25K greater than I did as a cop. I have made 2-3 Vegas runs this year. This singe first year I have been able to go back without being angry. They were very good and Lucky I made over 5k during week 11 of NFL and that's is with losing Denver at St Louis. Doesn't hurt that I hit the pit at the Wynn for 1100 in 2 hours before I left.

Let me drop a bit of common knowledge on everyone which I knew before hand but Learned the hard way.

    1) bankroll management- I started with 30k but was better $1.250 greedy bastard. This caused me to disband my system by week 4 and make new systems up as I went along. Worst decision I ever made. If I would have started with $500 a game i would have made $32,100 during the MLB season, instead I lost 22k in 4 weeks. I. Was able to live thanks to riding a NBA playoff series parlay with the Heat and Thunder. This lead me into the worst betting mistake of all time.

May 10th 2012. I had just successfully turned my remaining 8k into 13.5k with a ballsy 3 team playoff series parlay. NHL Rangers, NBA Heat and NBA Thunder. I took 1500 and flew to Florida to pay bills and look for a job. The last 12k I left in my safe off of Sunset where only I and a business partner of mine had access. He was in for 25% of my action because he helped stake my 30k.
I then made the worst mistake in my life and regret it to this day. I flew him to Vegas because I was trying to interview and spend time with my children. I told him to take the cash and bet 10k on the Heat vs Pacers and Thunder Vs Lakers. I told him that should bay about 8 and after that we would roll it all into heat in Finals. I was betting all my action at the M sportsbook and never had 1 bit of trouble placing a wager. He told
Me ok but then tried to sell me on his hometown Rangers vs the Devils. I told him no cause the Rangers looked like crap vs the Caps and felt they would lose. He argued a bit more but we laughed it off. 24 hours later I had not heard from him and he wasn't returned my phone calls. Late Monday night I get a call and my friend starts screaming about how we are about to win big!! He tells me that he placed the bet but added the Rangers because he had a gut feeling???? Without my consent. He tried to first lie about the M not allowing him to parlay the heat and thunder together without a third team. He finally landed on hunch when there was no other option. I'll never forget that week, he didn't catch his flight back and called out sick at worked in Florida. He stayed in my Condo, I am sure he was scared to face me. The day the Rangers lost the final game of that series was one of the worst days of my life. My so called friend stopped answering my calls and flew home unannounced. I then borrowed 500 from a close friend to fly back to Vegas and try to salvage anything I had left as I still had 4 months left on my lease. When I arrived at my condo in Lake Las Vegas I saw horse betting slips scattered all over and no sign of my so called friend. My rental car was parked in its spot with the second key on the floor board, i used my main key to get in and drive to my safe deposit box off of Sunset. After arriving and going through the me retina scanner I had a creepy feeing that every dime I had left was gone. Boy was I right, only
Receipts and betting slips were left. To included the 10k 3 team parlay my friend had made. I sat in their crying for at least 39 minutes before I got myself together enough to leave. I couldn't call my wife or anyone, I was so embarrassed. I had less than 100 dollars to my name. Luckily I had a good friend who loaned me $1,000 to help me try to get back on track. However by then I was depressed I stopped sports all together, I focused on Baccarat and Poker. I did quite well running the 1k to around 6k, before breaking my lease in late August. I couldn't be there for football season without money and started to be very depressed.

I didn't think this post would
Be so long and don't even care if anyone reads it was just good to get this shit off my chest. I am interested in making another run, because my baseball system won in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

I will keep all my options open, but one thing is for sure. I will never let anybody ever have access to one red cent of mine.

Yeah guys but i take a lot of blame myself.

I had enough to not take his money, but was greedy wanted to pay some bills off and use money for other stuff.

I also bet too big. This was my biggest and number 1 problem, I assumed I would have enough money, but couldn't sustain the huge bets after 4 weeks. The previous years I tested closely next lost early.

No I have never seen this scumbag again, every time i go to a track in south Florida i pray to see him but in an always disappointed.

A tidbit I didn't explain is we had a shared business account and CC through Citi. Shit got so bad he was writing checks and kiting them between our bank and his other two banks, I got a call from Fraud at CITI and they threatened to shut my account down. So I went in to see what they were talking about and he had overdrawn our business account almost 1K!!! I had to file charges against him or I would have had to pay it. I did and then he was arrested.

              See below

Craig S Marsh in Florida Palm Beach County arrested for FRAUD-INSUFF FUNDS CHECK - MAKE UTTER ISSUE 150 DOLS OR OVER 5/06/1972

Anyways, I have grown strong. From my mistakes and became more disciplined like i said in the first thread, I have won more in Vegas since during small trips this year than have in the past.

We all make mistakes it's how you grow from them that separates you the Gambler from my old Friend the Degenerate.

                                              Matt

Your old thread had good advice but you follow none of it. 3 years and being bankrupt and you still have learned nothing. You didn't lose because of bankroll management or because your friend pissed away your money. You lost because you didn't have an edge and were betting games. The correct play for you is to never gamble again.

Right now you're convincing yourself that you can do it again. Let me be the first to say that you'll fail again betting your MLB system or your stupid nba parlays once you start chasing your losses. You'll lose because you're not cut out to be a advantage player. It's just a fact.

Anyway see you in another 1-5 years in the next thread you post in here about relapse again or just do your family a favor and just check in to GA (1% chance of happening).

Profound story Matt, with the added twist of a friend who sounds like he had a bigger problem than you and spent your cash like it was his own, the worst kind of degenerate out there. You hit the nail on the head though, got away from what was working for you and add to that terrible bankroll management, equals instant recipe for disaster.

I'm often amazed at how many gamblers know exactly what not to do, have heard countless stories of some other degens who got greedy, chased a bad day with another bad day, borrow, pawn and sell everything in a vain attempt to "get it all back", make exactly the same mistakes and of course end up the same way, broke and depressed, lost friendships and jobs, the girlfriend or wife leaves and in extreme cases, homeless.

My #1 rule and I live by it, "know when to walk out of the casino or sportsbook", the worst mistake gamblers make is not knowing when to walk out. I'm not ashamed to say I've left only being up $300 to $500, do that a couple of times a week with a day or two off to 3R, (rest, research and regroup), and you'll find your psyche and bankroll will increase over time. The same applies if I'm on the negative side, if it's not your day, it just not your day.

I think and treat gambling like investments in the stock market, sometimes they go up, other times they're down, but over time with the right stock (teams) and good money management, you'll always stay in the black. But this is where most people blow it it our high tech, fast pace, I want all the shit right now world. Nobody wins or loses all the time, but you can lose it all, betting too big just one time.

Glad to hear you turned it around and got outta Vegas for a while. Gambling without a job is a stressful way to exist and nothing is more valuable than good health. Don't forget, gambling is suppose to be exciting and fun, if you're not having any of those two, time to walk out and get the 3R's. Best of luck in the new year.

I have a great life and very happy in my life. I miss betting games, but not as much as I hate the feeling of losing money.
