I have to say, it is rare for me to be shocked about any game....but I am shocked that the Flames lost. Up in the game a number of times...Hiller just could not stop the puck. His worst game of the year, by far.
The funny thing is, neither teams best players really got in on the scoring.
Hopefully the the reader comes through for us....but either way it is a losing night. Thought about a halftime play or two....but don't want to chase. Shut it down and start again tomorrow.

Yep. I do tend to whine here and there about losing.....but yes, this trend has been a little bit annoying. I know it all evens out....and the nice thing is, we have still won a few units while weathering the storm. Tonight had great potential, and again, if one little thing had gone out way it would have been a great one.

Not a good start. Ivanavic struggled madly in her semi-final match, and frankly, looked terrible to me. Sharapova on the other hand....looked amazing. Unfortunately Sharapova forgot to bring her serve today. 32% first serve percentage in the first set.....that is almost impossible for a top player.
I understand the variance for women can be greater from day to day.....but this is ugly. Sharapova looked good serving at 4-2 in the first set.....looking to cruise to a 6-3 first set win, but she couldn't hold it for all of those double faults.
I have to give it to Ivanavic. I hate her, but she has cost me money over the years. She is a bulldog every once in a while when she is on her game.....and can be a battler when she isn't. I expected a battle from her tonight, but I did not expect such a poor match from Sharapova.Comment -
So, after the ugly first set Sharapova came back and played great in the second set to tie things up at a set each, and she was up 2 games.
Looking good, right? HA HA
Sharapova goes up 3-0 in the third set......3-0......3-0.....
And now Ivanavic, who was laying down, is all of a sudden killing it. What looked like a sure win 10 minutes ago is looking like I am done....the swings of women's tennis.Comment -
I will never bet against Ivanovic again. When I said she battles......I really did understate things.
She came back from 3-0 in the third set, 4-2 in the third set and then at 5-3 and 40-15 she fought back to deuce.....I feel very lucky to have cashed both of those wagers tonight.

the next time i update...what is now called "new" will become "previous"...
this allows for flexibility in the time between updates...allowing for some updates, like this one, to cover less than a day...and also allows for other times, for a day or more to elapse before the next update...
the same protocol/terminology will apply whatever the time elapsed between updates...whatever was "new" on the last update becomes the "previous" foundation upon which the changes act to create the updated "new"...
the more general terms "previous/new" are far less troublesome than references to "yesterday/today" which I'm learning to avoid...when i refer to specific days (past or future) it is best in the form "d.___" where d.001 = sJ03, the first saturday of 2015
So, in the next update: changes will start from scratch, as the tennis action will have already been accounted for/incorporated into what is then referred to as "previous".
No yesterdays, no today's, no this morning's, etc...just
previous = already accounted for and reported,
changes = related to all action SINCE that, and
new= previous +changes...(which will be referred to in the NEXT report as "previous"...rinse/lather/repeat)
