If you want to say that the South Vietnamese lost the war after the US pulled most of their troops out, then go ahead. The South Vietnamese did lose. But while the US was there fighting, the US dominated that war and its seen in the overwhelming casualty rates. The US has never lost a war. When the US pulls out of places, then the places it once defended sometimes lose (see South Vietnam, Iraq today). But the US itself, no. The reasons the United States did not achieve their objection in the Vietnam War had more to do with political unrest in the United States than military might.
It also didn't help that the South Vietnamese were as weak as they were.
