In general though, one of the most robust findings in all of social scientific research is, the more educated one is the more politically liberal s/he is. In other words, education and political ideology are correlated...the less educated the more politically conservative, the more educated the more politically liberal. About as robust a relationship there is in all of research.

And it is obvious...people who are better educated are going to tend to score higher on things like tolerance levels, diversity, more accepting racial attitudes....

This actually may be a good point but in context. Education is not learning. Learning is a lifelong process. Education is measured by researchers as years in school (i.e. amount of formal schooling one has received). Generally, any other measure you use for "education" is either going to be correlated with amount of schooling or less valid as a measure. So for example, if I decided that instead of number of years of schooling as a measure for education, I would use number of books read per year. Well, that might work except for the fact that education and number of books read per year are highly correlated and you have problems of mutlicollinearity, And this is virtually the case for any way of measuring education. And as for joining the military....the vast majority of people who join the military do so so that they can go to college or do so because they cannot cut it in a college classroom. Going to "battle for 8 years" may have some effect but it does not make you smarter or anything like that...I am not really sure what your point is.

Perhaps you did not read my posts very careful the first time, so I'll write it again. Education is the strongest predictor of political liberalism even after adjusting for the effects of all other possible variables. Even when you control for race, the relationship between the two is still there. Obviously you either don't understand how research works (which I suspect to be the case if it is not blatantly obvious) or you are talking entirely out of emotion (which is also probably the case).

The original intent of college was admirable but colleges have become businesses in the worst possible sense with students wracking up massive debt. Even though i work at one, I am not sure that I can recommend people to go to college anymore unconditionally even though my livelihood depends on it.

You know that most of the current kids in college don't belong there. How many of them need remedial classes just to get up to speed? How many of them are getting worthless degrees? How much are they paying and what are they getting? You are helping raise the next generation of debt slaves. I think there are problems with colleges BUT if you have the opportunity you should go. Research shows that lifetime earnings are significantly higher if you go to college. There are a certain set of skills that you learn in college that you just cannot learn anywhere else. Even though I am less enthused about college as a type of formal education, it is still way preferable than just about every other alternative.

Notice I don't post much. Maybe 100 total posts or so past 4 years. I have a specialized knowledge in social science research and its application. That's it. I am not qualified to speak on most issues. I am not a genius by any stretch. I worked hard to earn a very prestigious degree. I was a very average student....but being an average student at the school i went to puts you light years ahead of most SBR posters.

That is not really a great comparison. You as an individual should not be worried about averages, you should be trying to maximize your situation, and that's what people do. People with IQ's below room temperature who live in Section 8 housing don't go to college, they are party of the non college crowd. Then there are people who really have multiple paths, College or NOT. If you don't go you can go join the military, learn a trade, maybe start a business somewhere down the line.

Not everybody that goes to college ends up in management. There are plenty of people working crappy retail jobs at the mall, people who have degrees in ______ studies. Those people would have been better off skipping the frat parties and basketball games, and 50K of debt and just working.

Yes, on average people that go to college earn more money over a lifetime, but they also rack up huge sums of debt to the point where the marginal person isn't necessarily better off. Especially with the high costs of college today. Of course - on average libs will go further in school. Weaklings typically don't have the guts to venture into the real world and stake their own claim, so continuing their education makes them feel safe and successful. They also know that schools are the ideal place to indoctrinate callow and impressionable kids into their perverse way of thinking. If I were a gutless lib I would have gone for at least a Masters and perhaps a higher degree. Believe me, you make no sense to me...to someone like me, you are ignorant and your arguments are so simple and based on emotion that I cannot even take them seriously. Seriously, you are not even part of the debate to me. You have NEVER opened up an academic journal and researched any of these things or even thought to. Had you done so, you would not be typing the things that you are and arguing like a 7th grader. I was going to respond directly to buddy's nonsense, but there's no point. I will say one thing, and this comes from someone in the know, but anyone who defends and puts his trust in the pulp being packaged and labeled as "research," is someone who is either new to the industry or is a student. That goes quadruple for social science research.
