every generation is different style of play. not gonna argue about it, as some people have a myopic vision that insists they are witnessing the best ever right now. i wasn't around to see some of these guys, yet i'm still impressed by the records set by wilt, kareem, and jordan. lebron is the best today but have no idea if he will break a lot of records. people should look up some of the records some of these guys set before your time.
-wilt only player to average 50 pts a game in a season, also only player to average 40 pts a season
also 2000 rebounds in one season (+71 other records)
-kareem abdul-jabbar 38 thousand points (average 24 pts a game for 20 years)
-michael jordan lead the nba in points 11 times, career average of 30 pts per game

Kevin Durant is a better shooter than Lebron. If he were on the heat instead of playing with that chucker Westbrook everyone would be praising him as the best player ever.

          Kobe#2
          Lebron#3.
But the way lebron has been playing he can and will most likely be the best player ever.

you think westbrook is a chucker? he averages 23 pts a game, shooting average 43 percent.

              Lebron 1a
              Durant 1b

Could anyone prove beyond a reasonable doubt why they'd want one player on their team more than the other?

                depends on the team.
lebron has proven he can win with a team of scrubs since hes an elite defender, passer and scorer
durant needs more parts since his impact is only offensive

Magic Johnson is the best all around player of all time.
And although the game was completely different back then but you could also throw George Mikan's name in the mix as well.

Lebron will finish his career as a 7 time MVP and 5 time champion.
As much as I hate Lebron, The king is the best player ever in the nba.

being the best basketball player of all time has nothing to do with how many championships you've won, WHY THE FUKK DO THE GUYS THAT BRING THIS ARGUMENT INTO IT NEVER MENTION BILL RUSSELL?? IF WE'RE GOING TO JUDGE BASED ON CHAMPIONSHIPS HE HAS 11 AND SAM JONES HAS 10 SO QUIT FUKKING SAYING JORDAN HAS 6 BIG DEAL SO DOES SCOTTIE PIPPEN, BOB COUSY, AND KAREEM.

being the best has to do with how well you shoot, rebound, speed, strength, etc

so imho it has to be lebron, can't really compare different eras because the players now, on average, are so much better

Exactly. LeBron is 6'8 and 250 pounds, and some gusy here are saying he couldn't last 82 games in the league 10-20 years ago? Please. He would have been taken out of the league to have scientific tests done on him because of how much of a freak he would have been back then.

                            Ever?
                            As in all time?
You know there was a time when you had to watch this thing called a television to watch a basketball game. Then came this thing called cable, with cable came espn where you only got to see highlights of games and plays of the day, week, month and eventually plays of the year. then came this thing called the internet, and from the internet came this thing called the sbr forum.
And we all know that if the sbr forum says Lebron is the best ever therefore it must be true.

Yet again here is another young poster with no historical knowledge of basketball, calling Lebron the greatest ever. Yes Lebron flipped a switch in the playoffs last year, and he has been the most dominant player in the world ever since. He is unstoppable driving to the rim. The Heat will win yet another title this year. This current season may be the most dominant season we have ever seen.

It's a shame he spent the first 8 years of his career trying to be a shooting guard, and it took him until year 10 to get himself mentally and physically prepared to truly dominate. Because of that, he will only end up with 3 or 4 rings, having wasted years of his prime taking too many outside shots. It's also a shame that he was a total coward and loser in the 2010-2011 finals, because he could have easily added another ring to his repertoire.

He may end up as a top 5 player, and its a real treat that we get to watch it unfold. However, he will never, ever reach the status of greatest ever.

The next time there is a book written about you then you can make claims about being the best

Look at the rosters of Lebrons teams in Cleveland in all his playoff runs and #1 seeds in the East. His other guys, sucked. They are hasbeens. I watched every Cav game, went to many playoff games, the guy was doubled and tripled all game and would find an open shooter and they would choke.

He's been the best in the NBA for 4 years. Best ever for about 2 years. Lebron would crush Jordan in his prime, 1 on 1.

As a team player, lebron is easily better he averages 27, 7, 7. No body with his skills has passed like him.

He had one bad series the nba finals v mavs.

Jordan needed Pippen and Phil. Lebron carried wade and company last year. He will continue to carry them.

When wade pours in 30 one of every 15 games, you hear how he needs wade. Wades shooting percent decreases and his defense is putrid. He's not near a top 10 player anymore. Lebron is doing it with a slasher, and a spot up 7 footer - bosh.

He's the best ever. Will probably finish with 3-4 rings

Jordan would have better numbers than Lebron if heplayed in this generations weak, heartless paycheck player era. Back then throwing a guy on the floor wasnt a technical either kiddos. The nba is soft as hell today. Oh and Lebron is so clutch too lmao. Bye the way, Jordan had 10 triple doubles in 11 games...good luck with that anybody.

Who cares about Jordan's triple doubles? I bet you some no name guy was guarding him every game.
Lebron IS a fukkin boss and can always put down that winning shot 9/10 times.

Who cares about Jordan's triple doubles? I bet you some no name guy was guarding him every game.
Lebron IS a fukkin boss and can always put down that winning shot 9/10 times.
Whens the last time LBJ hit a game winner? Kid is mentally soft still.

Yea you're right, playing against some of the greatest teams, players ever...im sure he had bums covering him lol, are you serious?! I sound like an asshole but seriously reading the replies in here shows how so many people know so little.

6 time finals MVP...get the fuk out of here with this Lebron shit.

Jordan went thru some of the baddest teams ever to get those rings....back then Pistons, Lakers, Knicks, Celtics, Jazz, Heat, Cavs, Pacers, Sonics, Blazers etc, etc were stacked with talent. Jordan beat more Hall of Famers than anyone ever has. Its not even close.

Lebron on a sick run now and you guys are all over his nuts. Even players that played the game that know more about the game would laugh at this topic.

Where was Mr Clutch last year in the Finals..dude was on the sideline.with CRAMPS..lmao..cramps. What a pussy
