#6gruden loves the raiders whether he goes back or not who knows, but the chances certainly increased since Davis died. I'm a raiders fan and felt like I got kicked in the nuts when he beat us in the super bowl.Comment -

#11Report: Jon Gruden Could Be Headed To Philly
It's been rumored for years that, if/when Eagles coach Andy Reid no longer is coaching the Eagles, former Eagles offensive coordinator Jon Gruden could be lured back to town.
Now, Howard Eskin of WIP and FOX 29 reports that Gruden could be the next coach of the Eagles.
The move, obviously, hinges on the Eagles firing Reid. And on Gruden being interested.
Gruden has made it clear from time to time that he'll coach again, even as ESPN has tried to make staying in the broadcast booth more and more attractive to the man who led the Bucs to a Super Bowl win a decade ago.
Some of you will scoff at Eskin's report, given that he said last week that a quarterback change with the Eagles was "likely." Keep in mind, however, that the Browns scoffed in June when Eskin reported that former Eagles president Joe Banner could resurface in Cleveland.
Eskin serves as the radio sideline reporter for Eagles games, so he's plugged in. And while it doesn't take a genius to plug Gruden's name in to a potential vacancy in Philadelphia, Eskin's report makes sense.
If, of course, owner Jeffrey Lurie and agent Bob LaMonte will be able to transact business after Lurie has fired Reid, a LaMonte client."

#18With all the college talk about Gruden... I'd bet my right nut that the man would never coach a college school. You can tell by his personality he loves the (NFL) game, loves the professionalism of the NFL, and going to a collegiate school would be a downgrade. I think ESPN/ABC loves Gruden and would give anything the man wants. It's either color commentating or to an NFL team. No way he goes to any collegiate team.Comment -

#20He always has nothing but good things to say about the Raiders. And don't know his relationship with McKenzie but they were both in G.B. Seriously doubt it would happen though he seems content in the booth and recently signed a new deal.Comment -

This is what I was just going to write.
Not a bad thought thinking he could be in Oakland next year, but I think unlikely... I think Chuckie might want more control of running an organization. I don't see many places looking to do that in the near future, if any. Oakland, for certain, is not going to be that kind of situation with McKenzie.Comment -

he will never revert back to Oakland,

#28A stepping stone to get to Tampon Bay that is some funny shit Pauly. Because we all know coaches had been dying for years in the 90's to get a shot to head up that franchise and it's loser history. Thanks for the laugh though!Comment -

#31Yeah I remember how it all went down. But the using Oakland as a stepping stone is the part that is puzzling. Oakland gave him his chance which Al has done for many years with unknowns and he made the most of it. Obviously when Dungy parted that left a void there and Al did'nt want to pony up the $ for a big contract. So Tampon calls offers cash and a bunch of picks the rest is history. Obviously it was a stupid move looking back and most likely cost us a 4th ring.Comment -

#33Why would any decent coach want to steer that train wreck and tarnish their career win-loss record with a guaranteed 4-12 year next year? There aren't even any pieces in place.
Also - let's stop calling it "re-building". It's not rebuilding when you've been doing it for 10 years. That's just who you are.
Maybe Singletary is available? He's motivational.Comment -
