Guys I have been taking a serious nosedive. The hangover from the NBA lockout has added even more volatility to an already volatile sport. Games ending anywhere from the 150's to the 230's lol. Not doing any better in college hoops either.
I'm feeling very nostalgic for November right now, when I was picking winners and was actually a contributing member of this board. Now I've turned into no more than a resident degenerate, posting losers and getting in fights with ppl (sorry again SlickRick, LeeTreaper, 5s, and probably others ).
I think I've pinpointed my problem, and it comes down to two things: time management and focus/dedication. Back in November, I really made sure to set aside time to really look at games. I would start capping the next day's games at night, and then the following morning I would wake up early, get a good cup of coffee, and really put in the legwork for a couple more hours before I had to go to work. It was a nice little routine that was very comforting in a way; it was my "me" time. And the results I was getting showed it was working well.
My tailspin started when I began treating it less like a hobby and more like a habit. I stopped the routine that had been working so well, and spent less time really analyzing games. Started making a lot more plays, and doing so recklessly. Part of it was likely due to additional stress at work taking time away from capping. The rest was due to me adopting a "fk it all" attitude after a few bad losses. The way I saw it, I make a good living at my day job, I can afford to gamble, who gives a shit right? Wrong.
I owe myself and you guys more than that. If I wanted to post plays that were little more than gutshots, I can always make "lock of the year" threads any time, where I post a play with no reasoning to back it up and fight with people who disagree. But by starting a season-long thread, I took up the mantle of responsibility to post plays that are well-thought-out, and to engage in productive discussion, in an effort to actually have long-term positive results.
So, here is my pledge to you guys: I am going to get back to basics and try to earn my way back into the board's good graces. At the moment, I don't deserve to be on the "best cappers" thread, so Crock if you are reading this, feel free to take me off (if I haven't already been taken off, I don't know I haven't checked that thread in a while lol). I am going to approach this with the seriousness it deserves. I am going to try to post a few well-thought-out plays every day, and when there is a small card I am going to do my best not to force it.
When I get a chance later, I'll go back thru the past few days of posts and update my pathetic record. Then, hopefully I'll have some plays for tonight.
and BOL all
Right on brother . It's the nature of the game, odds are stacked against us and human nature dictates that when things are going well we tend to overreach. Much respect and good luck going forward. EVERYONE has a losing stretch, a losing season, who has been around long enough. Stay true to yourself and true to the game bro, your willingness to check yourself speaks volumes about your character.

Its all good bro. Part of the game I guess. I remember going back to your thread a few weeks ago and was like wtf, why filmoz in the "red" now. Shiit. But who am I to say, I took a nose dive myself. Very slowly working back up. Now I lowered my units drastically and only play 3-4 games. Still a long grind.

Lakers pretty much cost me 6x. 82 points thru the first three quarters and then they don't score a point in the 4th until 6 minutes in. Lol. Anyways, slightly positive day, looking forward to tomorrow's card + football. Victory song:

Holy crap, I can't BELIEVE you missed that parlay... When I went to bed (mad, by the way, because I pissed away ALL my hard-earned Penn/Mavs/Nets winnings thinking for sure the Heat were gonna come back in the 2H and win), I was like, well, Mozer's got his parlay, Lakers are killin' it. How the fukk did they completely stop scoring????
Ah well.
Ridiculously massive card in NCAA today, huh? I've got a loooot of work to do what with looking at all these and finalizing some hopefully large NFL plays.

Yeah I'm still steaming from losing that parlay. It took a lot of restraint not to chuck my phone against the wall as I watched the Lakers fail to score a single point until 6 minutes into the 4th Q. I know that the pace of a game can change dramatically, especially where a team is winning comfortably, but c'mon, six scoreless minutes? That is quite rare. Lakers 1st Half was the play obv. Lol.
Gonna be a great day today. First day of a three day weekend, huge college hoops card, plus NFL playoffs, and even some NBA later to cap it off.... a degen's wet dream lol. Plus I'm sipping on my first batch of homebrewed beer right now - got a homebrewing kit from the mother-in-law for xmas. A little early to be drinking, but it's 5 o'clock somewhere!
