    What leads anyone to believe that St. Louis is on Butler's level right now?

    Billikens lost by double digits at home to Santa Clara, lost by double digits at Kansas, lost to an underachieving Washington team on the road, lost by 10 at Temple and gave up 82 in a home loss to Rhode Island. I see one solid win on their slate: New Mexico.

    Best to just stay away from "trap" games or games that you think are traps.....You'll be second guessing yourself more often than not

    Butler on the ML is a decent bet IMO but I can see the St Louis angles as well.....tough game

    I’m just not buying into the concept of Butler as an underdog. Brad Stevens squad was an underdog at the Maui Invitational against Marquette. They won straight up. The Bulldogs were underdogs against North Carolina the next day. They won straight up by double digits. Butler was an underdog against Indiana, ranked #1 at the time. They won straight up. The Bulldogs were underdogs at St Joe and Dayton to open up Atlantic-10 conference play. They won those games in SU fashion too. They were underdogs to Gonzaga and found a way to steal one from the Zags. Yes, Butler did lose as an underdog at LaSalle last week, but they still covered the spread in a two point defeat. Clearly, this team is exceeding marketplace expectations by a fairly wide margin. St Louis is no joke – there’s a reason that Butler is a dog once again tonight. They’re coming off a pair of impressive road wins at Duquesne and St Bonaventure last weekend after dropping back-2-back games against Temple and Rhode Island the previous week. But point guard and leading returning scorer Kwamain Mitchell still isn’t back to 100% after missing the first eleven games with a broken leg. And, unlike Butler, the Billikens haven’t been at their best in tight, competitive games; only 1-2 in games decided by five points or less. That lone win came against North Texas in a game Jim Crews squad was favored by 13 points. Butler’s repeated success in tight games gives them a legitimate confidence edge here that simply isn’t factored into this pointspread.

    I don't have a dislike for KenPom at all. I have a dislike for Vegas being lazy and copying this guy's homework, blindly setting 99% of their initial sides/totals based on his numbers and nothing else.

    Normally yes, I'd fade Butler in this spot ebb based on what's happened on paper -- including their ATS record and being an ranked road dog. But I've seen both of these teams play and, on a normal night, Butler is the superior team. Does that mean St. Louis doesn't win and cover tonight? Of course not. I'm just not buying the idea that the Billikens are an equal team to Butler at this point in time. Doesn't mean they can't beat them tonight -- this isn't a best-of series. Just one game. I don't see the angle in taking St. Louis, though, other than playing the "due" factor.

    13-5 is not best in the nation I think Florida has the best ATS record and I'm not 100% sure but I know theirs is better than Butlers. Misinformation doesnt help anyone in this thread

    Based on power ranking, Butler is a 1pt favourite but add 4 four home court, you get -3 STL so the opening line is pretty accurate from that standpoint. I personally feel Butler keep this within 1 possession game at the very least, plus reading the local news team report, few Butlers players should be excited & motivated to put forth best effort.

    Butler 13-5 overall & 5-1 conference play. 5-3-0 @ home & 8-2 away

    STL 8-9 overall & 2-3 conference play 5-6-0 @ home & 3-3 away

    I took Butler +4.5 against St.Louis for a buck....they played a far tougher schedule, have a much better rpi, are battle tested against quality competition, and should beat the Billikens on their home court straight up but I gladly bought a bucket (+2) for insurance...just in case!
