Do you look at the margin between teams when using your formula? Just some food for thought, but I found over the last few seasons that margins of 0-14 have had an average 8.35-9.5 points more scored in the second half, 15-19 point margin 7.5 points more, 20-24 points 6.6 points more, 25-29 3.75 points more and with a 30+ point margin 1.65 less points were scored in the second half.
I've also noticed from the games on espn that i've watched that two good (ranked) teams seem to score a lot more points in the final few minutes of games that are close than two poorer quality teams.Comment -
If you've got a large sample size, I'll take your word for it on those stats - but I think each game is its own entity. Generally I try to pick competitive games where the pace/possessions from the 1st half should translate to a fairly accurate depiction of the 2nd half. Certainly some blowouts have better potential for unders, but again I have seen plenty of of blowouts where points continue to pump out.Comment -

Miffed at these losses tonight. Fullerton usually one of the most reliable 2nd half scoring teams along with Iona. Terrible shooting. Houston game was the one that was the swing game tonight. UTEP scores five pts in the last six minutes after the pace, etc. was going along swimmingly. That one kind of sucked the life out of the night to me. Killed, CSF played penetrating terribly, couldnt make a shot. They score 5 points over a 7 minute span and that kills it. All we need is about 14-15 over 7 minutes and we're good, instead they shit the bed on a good bet really.Comment -
