Well, I'm an idiot (or greedy, whatever you want to call it). I was 18-0-1 until yesterday afternoon on my 3rd attempt. Then I saw Mardy Fish was playing a 300+ ranked opponent that I couldn't even pull up on tennis.com's head-to-head match-up stuff. Had a balance of just under 10 units I was rolling over, and had honestly planned on banking 1/2 to 3/4 of before this bet because I had serious doubts I'd hit 20 in a row and wanted to keep some profit.
Well, I forgot to bank or somehow decided in the back of my head that I wanted to push for 1 more win. Then Fish struck and lost like he's done every other time I've put money on him.
Back to 0 for attempt 4, and got win 1 with St. Marys last night.
I had asked the question a couple days ago about banking suggestions, and I've decided that after yesterdays loss, I'm going to bank every time I've made back my original investment, and then again after I'm up 4 units no matter what. That will essentially give me 4 restarts per bank if I do that.

I saw that guy play earlier in the tournament and noticed he had a wonderfull good serve. Fish is just not solid enough on this surface to bet at all for him against who-ever.

just at a first glance, i like IONA today in college hoops on the ML at -310 (currently at 5dimes)...IONA is one of the best mid major teams in the country, but they need to keep winning to assure themselves of a spot in the NCAA tournament...they have a very talented roster with momo jones, scott machado and mike glover...only thing that scares me is the ML was -340 this morning and has dropped even though IONA is usually a very public team

I was looking into that one as well as the hockey pick I pointed out earlier (Jackets are now the team getting +1.5, though, so I got a good deal there). I really like Iona to win the game. I have come to the conclusion that I will only play this strategy on home teams. As I said before, this is about avoiding an upset just as much as predicting a winner.

i also just put my roll ($400 to win $130) on Iona at -310. they have been a pretty profitable team for me this year...im not sure about the spread, in fact, all indications say fairfield will probably cover, but i just dont see them winning outright IN iona...Iona beat them by 9 i believe earlier this year @ fairfield...they have 3 incredibly talented players in lamont jones,michael glover, and scott machado (nation leader in assists)...they also are at the top of the nation in points per game...fairfield has a strong defense but a so-so offense, i jsut dont see them having enough firepower to beat iona...look for this game to be close or even iona losing at the half but they should pull out a victory at home with their tournament hopes on the line (this game also has huge seeding implications for the MAAC tourney, and they only have st. peters left to play after this so they will not be looking ahead...this is basically their do or die game)Comment -
Agreed, all the picks seem to take the spread but give Iona the win. That said I teased Iona and Princeton down for $$ because I don't think the Iona game will be entirely close, just within 6-8 points. Look into this one Cheick Kongo -290 vs Mark Hunt. Kongo is a solid fighter going up against basically a guy who should be retired. Hunt is a former K1 kickboxer with a 7-7 mma record... only thanks to his 2-0 winning streak recently. He is old and beat up... some people see value in him and the odds are low in my opinion.
I'll start with his most recent win vs Rothwell he looked bad. Fight was at altitude and he likely would have lost if his opponent had worked on his cardio more. If you want a video I'm sure I can find one- you cant torrent whole events quickly if youo have a high speed connection also.
His 2nd win versus Tuscherer was against another low level fighter. Before that he lost to a guy with limited striking, very limited cardio, and an average ground game. Mark Hunt has defeats to 2 former 185 pound fighters in freak show fights and he is a heavyweight. His career has been 'revived' because of these 2 recent wins... and you can take his success to the bank. Barring anything drastic you're money is in safe hands. Mark Hunt is certainly capable of getting the KO but he has not had a KO since 2008. He is a fighter on the slide of his career and I am not exaggerating when I say he is lucky he is not retired. I could write pages about why he won't win this fight versus Kongo. Stylistically a bad match up for Hunt as he is only good in 1 thing and really was never any good in MMA period.
UFC 144 Mark Hunt vs Cheick Kongo Saturday 2/25.
Also his fight against Rothwell- was at altitude... Rothwell would have llikely taken that fight if he wasn't so exhausted. Hunt has a non existant ground game, and at this point in his career I doubt he is a better striker than Kongo. It's a much safer bet than a -400 college basketball team.
Oh and I've been watching Kongo fight since around 2005 and I've seen over 14 Mark Hunt fights. I think I am pretty on point with this call completely.

You are correct but pucklines are pretty dangerous as well. I did also pick heavyweights but I looked for the most edge possible. If you watch tape on both fighters, and look at their past performances you'll see Hunt is as washed up as can be. That Rothwell fight was pure fortune... Rothwell was winning that fight... but then he gassed worse than Hunt. Nothing other than a kick is going to lose this bet.... just like 1 extra goal can ruin a puckline. Also the great thing about MMA is I go against steam all the time and have yet to be burned Kongo is now at -265.... money going on Kongo. Money I beieve people will never get back betting on Hunt. If you bet on Hunt you are betting on such a lucky KO in this scenario... especially if you look at how badly Hunts skills have degenerated this point in his career.
Comparatively Pittsburgh Penguins are -250 on the moneyline and I think that is a much more dangerous bet.Comment
