That's not my point. I respect Lebron for being perhaps the most dominate physical force in the NBA. However, he does not currently have that special killer instinct -- think MJ, Kobe, Bird, Magic, etc.-- necessary to be a top level closer. Derrick Rose has proved time and time again that he has that instinct and he openly welcomes the pressure of taking that last shot. In fact, with the recent game against the Spurs and now tonight against the Bucks, he has now closed a game twice in as many weeks. This in contrast to Lebron who consistently shies away from the last shot. That's not to say Lebron won't change and develop into a killer closer, but he's not currently at that point.
I think the whole LeBron 'I fall apart with the game on the line' argument has been blown way out of proportion, that pass to Haslem was 100% the right call, if Haslem makes that shot then it goes down as a great basketball play by LeBron doing the right thing for his team. You are definitely right about Rose taking on the pressure and rising to it and LeBron needs to close out a big game sometime later this season in the playoffs to shake that tag. I have a feeling the Heat will beat us in Conference Final, maybe that could be his time?

Again, what happens between the Bulls and Heat is irrelevant to my point. My point is limited solely to the killer instinct phenomena. While I agree Lebron's pass to Haslem was the "right basketball play," it was not a play any of the great closers such as Jordan, Bird, etc. would have made. Sometimes, greatness requires selfishness to succeed.

Pssst......MJ made that pass to Steve Kerr. Lebron isn't the closer that those other guys were, but he has had closing moments. The 4th quarter playoff game against the Pistons where I believe he scored 25 consecutive points for the Cavs being one of them.

Guys, I know LTA doesn't want or ask for points. But I really believe as a gesture of good will lets throw a couple of points. The man puts in a lot of hard work and gets nothing back in return bar the satisfaction that he is helping others. If you have a couple of points do the honorable thing. Just my .5c

Great point. You know what I mean though. It's in Lebron's head a little bit right now and everyone knows it. Until he hits a couple game winners and exercises the demons, he's going to have that stigma attached. Whether that's fair or not is open to debate, but we all have our opinions.

What is exaggerating the closer theory on LeBron is the fact that young players coming through, two prime examples being Rose and Durant have shown they have the killer instinct you talk of to close out games. He is meant to be the best player in the league and yet he can't make a game winning shot, while this is in part true, I just feel that people have jumped on this bandwagon and started riding it. No doubt that Rose has proven himself as a clutch player and Durant's 4th quarter production is staggering, the amount of times he has drained a massive 3 or drove to the basket to get an and 1 with missing not an option. I have a feeling if LeBron doesn't get his ring this year then psychological factors may way in and Durant surpasses him as the best player in the league - IMO he is very close at the moment. Forgot to say, thanks a lot for the winners tonight LTA, appreciate it and GL for tomorrow

Prime example of what the reaction would have been had Haslem drained that bucket. LeBron would have been praised like MJ for being selfless and doing what is right for the team. LeBron needs to get over this hump, which has been made much worse by the media/public, if he does and wins some rings he will go down as one of the GOATs without doubt. Let's hope Rose can achieve that as well, I have belief we will win a Championship in the coming years with Rose at the helm.

I, too, believe Rose has the ability to lead the Bulls to the promised land. I have been pleading to get that kid some help. Love Rose and the Bulls, but I see Rose taking a lot of wear and tear and would like to see him get some help while he is at his peak so he doesn't get exposed to any nagging, lingering injuries. The kid's a hard working and you can see it by the way he comes back each year with a little something more in his game. Whatever he gets, it will be well earned.

You're absolutely right. He's gotta win a ring and he's gotta be the driving force behind winning the ring with clutch baskets to "get the monkey off his back."

I hope D Rose gets one, but it almost looks like the case of the LeBron @ Cleveland. Great player, with maybe decent at best surroundings. Although, D Rose has a bit better talent around him than LeBron @ Cleveland did. Hopefully that slightly better gets him there!

For those who were talking about lebron and drose regarding killer instincts. (i didnt read all of the posts though, too much ingame clutter sorry)

Yeah we could definitely do with someone else in the front court in my opinion to limit the hits Rose takes because as you say, we need him healty - however, remember he is only 23 so he will still *hopefully* have a fair few years left at his peak (if he has even reached it?). I am not a Boozer fan and would love to trade him away in a package with Noah and someone else for D12, although he has said he doesn't want to come, which I can't understand. SG is another position which we need to sort but Brewer has done a good job this year, with Hamilton coming back then going down it raises the need and I can see us possibly doing a deal in that area before the deadline.

Best show on TV. Started watching it about 3 months ago and watched all 4 seasons in about 5 or 6 weeks. I'm a pretty big TV show guy, and IMO it is by far the best TV show I've seen.

D12 and rose are both Adidas guys. Adidas does not want them both on the same team. Dwight does not want to play second fiddle to d rose. Rose is a homegrown talent and not goin anywhere Kobe only has so much time left and lakers have a history of great centers. And it's LA where he can become a Hollywood star. I also really hope they never get rid of Noah. He really seems like one of those "glue" guys. Goofy guy but is the next best thing to a bill lambeere. You love him if he is on your team and hate him if he is not. I'd rather see the bulls get Allen or pierce from boston if they break them up. But I really feel like thibs and the bullies have some good chemistry and hate to break up the boys.

Although it wasn't my objective as I was really just kiddin' with LTA about last years playoffs, let me thank you all for the thoughts on the Lebron/endingofgames/rose & durant situation, it's always nice to see guys actually going over it as adults. I don't really have the time to chime in now, as I only came to ask you something LTA.
Do you think the Mavs make it 4-0 this year against the Suns? I feel this 3 points are great great value. So as is the under. But at the same time, shouldn't the Suns have like a major major chip on their shoulder no to to lose the four games?
Thanks in advance and congrats for last night

NBA 2011-2012 Regular Season 3/8/2012
Play #1
Magic/Bulls under (185) 1x (Locked)
I'm jumping on this one now as I won't have time to watch the lines today and I think this is a great number for this matchup. My local that generally follows 5d/Pinny has 184.5, but my local that generally follows Legends just opened at 185. As soon as I saw that number, I jumped on it which is a good thing because it didn't last more than 10 minutes before dropping back to 184.5. You may want to wait to see if this one goes up again, but I would still make this play in the 184 to 184.5 range if you can't get 185 because value remains at those numbers. Earlier in the season, these teams played to 180 final score which cashed the posted under of 181.5 (and so did we). That game was played at an 88.8 PACE, but saw the Bulls shoot 8-14 from 3pt range and 44% overall, while Orlando did not shoot as well with 3pt numbers of 35% and overall numbers of 40%. In this game, the books opened at 183.5 and immediately saw over money. So are the books hinting that they expect a higher scoring game tonight or was the adjustment necessary because of the Bulls' recent offensive play. I think it's the latter as opposed to the former. The Bulls have not been the huge "under" team that they were last season with an overall O/U record of 21-19-1 this year. Plus, in this condensed schedule season, the Bulls have generally played to the over when playing their 4th game in 5 nights. The Bulls remain #3 overall in OEFF and have been playing much better offensive basketball this season. However, in this game, I just don't see the over hitting. From a quantitative side, we have two teams that rank in the bottom 10 of PACE and possessions per game with solid defenses that rank top 10 in DEFF, OEFG%, OTS%, OFS%, OPIP, Opponent Fast Break Points, OPFE% and OP3% to name a few. One of the keys, however, is the perimeter defense of the Bulls that excels at stopping the outside/3pt shot against the interior defense of Orlando that excels at stopping points in the pain with Howard. Both defensive strengths should have a neutralizing effect on these teams' offensive strengths tonight. In addition, both defenses tend to limit shots in the paint and force inefficient shots and I don't think we see too many easy shots tonight. The qualitative factors also favor the under here. This is a TNT Thursday Night game which means both teams know the whole world is watching and Orlando is coming off an embarrassing loss against the Bobcats which sent Van Gundy to the hospital with chest pains. Despite all the trade rumors flying around, I expect Howard to be motivated playing against Rose and all of the drama that surrounds this marquee matchup. The Bulls just played to a high scoring game last night that saw them shoot 52% overall, but still needed Rose to hit the last shot in order to win. Although they won't have time to practice, I think Thibs will stress defense in this game and probably made that point known on the bus ride home from Milwaukee. Because of the fatigue and high minutes that Rose and Deng played last night, I think their legs might be just a bit tired which should help us with a slower pace and I expect a regression in shooting percentage tonight as the Bulls will be hard-pressed to shoot over 45% against a motivated Magic defense. The majority of all bets are riding the over at 70/30 split, but I expect the line movement to favor the under and steam down at some point to a closer around 183. I have this game set at 181 giving us a full 2 fg's worth of value at 185 which is another reason I am jumping on this game now as I didn't want to risk losing a good number. Based on the foregoing, I am rolling with the under for 1x. Good luck.
