a fair bit of talk recently about "middling" and/or "hedging" with the intra-game/live betting facility...and if it's a good practice long term...a guy at another forum i hold in highest LTA-league regard had this to say when asked about a game last Wednesday
_____________________
Some people preach hedging as a proper money management technique but it's not something I ever do. It's the type of practice that I would suggest you do either every time or never. I chose to do it never. Laying 8.5 points in the second half just doesn't make sense to me, no matter what kind of adjusted full game line that gives you. Just the way I invest.. other people can be successful doing it differently.
______________________
I prefer the Never option...but if you choose the other, remember it's a complex skill to be mastered and you must expect that screw-ups while learning will cost you till u get good at it...Doogtonmai seems very sharp at this stuff and would be a good guy to contact to help learn you learn the ropes and avoid the dangers.
Great post Fitguy...really helpful...ty.

Hondo, that was a cool re-emergence onto the forum...i hereby declare you a NON-oxygen-wasting fellow thread bro (without you, we would have never discovered Pivot's penchant for creating semi-plausible word-definitions at the drop of a hat)...
u asked if LTA does MLB? (Does a bear shit in the woods? Is the pope catholic?)

Not trying to be a dick here but sometimes it is easy to lose perspective and forget LTA owes us NOTHING, ZILCH, NADA. It is definitely frustrating missing out on a play, I DID miss out on the Dallas play tonight too, but to get touchy about the timeliness of his plays is not fair to the man IMO.
I just got done working 14 hours and haven't eaten since noon. I'm lucky I was able to post any plays at all. Just like Red said, some of you guys act as if I owe you something. Sorry, I'm not going to tell my boss or clients that I can't attend a meeting because I need to post my plays on SBR. Not to mention that there was a 7-10 minute period to get on that play. Most books don't close 8 pm games until 8:11 and others at 8:15 when the game actually starts. I tried my best under the circumstances.

LTA I tailed on tonight's plays. I completely understand your time constraints, I'm a pharmacist and almost work 10 hours a day so I can relate with your long days buddy. Just remember, there are MANY MANY people on this forum that respect the fact you post your plays, and particularly because you hold yourself accountable. I wish you the best of luck in the week ahead, thanks again for posting plays, I speak for myself and hopefully anyone on this forum with class- that we very much appreciate your time and effort, even if its within 10 minutes before the game. Now watch this schmuck eat popcorn .

People don't understand how long it takes to write up a game properly... or the work that goes in on the back end... or how gambling isn't actually the most important thing in your life. Honestly, you're many times more patient than I would be with the incessant requests for opinions and the same questions asked over and over again.
That record is looking great, BTW. Gotta love it when everything starts to come together

Maverick backers trying to middle and the others who are thinking about laying more on their losing side afraid of getting middled if they try to buy out. More often or not, your question gets answered with the more riskier of plays with a positive cash flow conclusion. This theory seems to work more often or not, when the game looks one sided going into the second half. I'm with you on this because I missed LTA's late post too. gl! Mavericks 2H +7
Well, this 2H game didn't work out at the end. However, I wanted to point out that I cashed on the 2h O in the Wizards game and the New Orleans 2H U using the same concept. I don't play 2H bets unless I see a one-sided scenario or simply want to buy out of the risk wager if I don't like the flow. Once again, if a game looks one sided going into half time, don't try to hedge or middle the play on 2H wagers. More often or not, you'll come out ahead if you go with the more riskier play. Of course nothing is guaranteed, but something I've noticed and cashing on this year with basketball and football for that matter. I like the above posts about a "no play" on middle action. There is nothing but respect for those that want to take the profits.

Hey LTA,
I came back to this thread today to apologize for last night. Blame it on too much alcohol and a primetime game with not much else going on. Truth is I was frustrated about some of the games I had bet in NCAAB ( I don't bet NBA typically). Anyways I didn't mean any harm and wanted to let you know that despite what I said on your thread last night I do see you as a good capper. I tailed you several times during the NFL this year. Anyways it looks like you're on the way to a good night so I'm not going to clutter up your thread anymore. I don't remember if you do baseball season or not but if so I'll be checking in on your threads more often when that time comes.
You guys have a good crew over here. Good luck everyone.
No worries. Good luck.

Spot on. I don't understand how people on this site have a sense of entitlement to my plays as if I owe THEM something. I enjoyed posting on SBR because it provided me an outlet to discuss sports investing, whereas I have no such outlet in the real world to talk about this stuff with except a few friends who I rarely see. I also liked the comaraderie of winning or losing with others, stressing over plays together and learning from others. However, I haven't really gotten too much out of SBR lately except for headaches. The SBR scene has been annoying me lately to be honest.
Like you said, people assume this is the most important thing in my life and I sit around on the computer all day capping games and shooting the shit in my threads. In reality, the only way I get to post is from my phone sitting in my office at work or on the commute to and from work. Some days I get more time to cap and post at work, other days I don't. I only sleep 4 hours a night so I can find time to be a great father and husband, model/cap all the games and do all my take home work. SBR is not paying my mortgage, bills or my son's college fund so I really don't understand how people have this sense of entitlement to my plays or my thoughts, etc.
It's posters like you, Red, and a bunch of others that keep me on here. I enjoy reading your thoughts and the thoughts of others I respect. Thanks for your contribution here and keep kicking butt. You are really kicking it into gear as well. Good luck in the 2h of the season and playoffs.

LTA...... I think I speak for most of us when I say we value and appreciate all your contributions to the forum. I try not to post much in the thread to avoid clutter and to just wait patiently for any angles you have on a game or games. Thanks for all you do and I hope you find the time to stick around and continue your success.

There is no need to take into consideration everyone thinking stupidly you are their boss, having to offer them sure money at the end of the day. It doesn't need to be a special mind to realize that whatever you do, deserves, at least, the respect of every single person in this forum. I consider your work here really professional, I will be really disappointed if you stop posting here, frustrated by some "childish" posts. GL tonight
