Was going to bet the Heat - 7 at almost evens, and then my bookie started juicing it all of a sudden. Damn. Think im not going to make any plays but tailing yours tonite LTA.

Still hoping the under goes down in Cleveland so I can jump on it at 191.

Folks : Posting a comment like "I am sorry, I am on the other side as LTA" is useless to me. Sorry. I am trying to learn here with a bunch of others learning. I have no issue with anyone being on the other side of me, or LTA, but could you say why please? Otherwise you give me the impression you are a casual better, with nothing more than a gut feeling which feeds the bookies their bread and butter. Thank you.

It most certainly is not. I don't like the sport. Not to watch, not to bet. Luckily, I'm smart enough to stay away from trying to bet on a sport that aggravates me.

To me, gambling should be fun. Fun for two reasons: First, the intellectual exercise of analyzing data and trying to come up with a conclusion you can back up with your own money. That's fun by itself. Second, doing the above with a sport you enjoy.

I can't stand basketball, and I certainly don't 'get' basketball, so betting on it isn't fun.

Watching your work and opinions IS fun though. You certainly know what you're doing, and keeping up with your progress is something I get a huge kick out of.

I hope it didn't come off like I was bitching and moaning in your thread.

I do have a questions for basketball experts though:

Am I wrong about basketball seeming to have many more instances of teams just not doing what they can to win? Is it my own misinterpretation because I don't understand the game?

How do you account for or anticipate the strangeness of it all? Or is it easy to shrug off because if something bizarre is going to happen, it could go against you or for you?

Anyway, thanks for the thread. It's a great little source of learning and fun while I wait for baseball to start.

I must say - I share your feeling .. well sort of.

I am no expert in basketball, although I am in a learning mode right now. I am still not enjoying watching the games from an entertainment perspective. I don't appreciate the athleticism of the sport, and I think the constant stoppages for fouls of someone's pinky finger touching another pinky finger to be absurd for a professional sport (yes, this is intentionally an exaggeration).

That being said, like you I appreciate the intellectual conversations we are having in this thread. I never would think to appreciate ref assignments or many other factors (which are relatively un-important in my most watched sport - NFL).

I may never learn to appreciate basketball as a sport. It may not be in my blood either. But I can appreciate the conversations and work done in this thread, and if I make some money in the process, that will be an evening out for me, wife and lovely daughter. That differs from my opinion 3 weeks ago actually (search for my posts) where I say that I couldn't even bet on a sport I can't stand to watch.

Now, I don't bet/tail blindly - but I have no issue betting on something and NOT watching the game provided I did my homework and accepted the wager to be the best value it can. I can't stand the game watching, even when I make/lose money, but watching this thread and learning is priceless on its own.

I am on LTA's under play tonight for those curious.

Well, I am learning to appreciate the sport more. But all the fouls annoy me as well. I wonder if i can full. appreciate a sport fully when referees have such a big influence on the result. I am a football fan (soccer for US) and I think referees are at their best when noone notices them. With basketball you can ignore them

Sixers have good home defense but they don't play defense well on road.
Memphis also plays good O at home.. and in B2b, i have seen defense struggling not offense!
This game would be a close game and if it is, fouling would add more value to 185... Even without considering "close game", I like over... I respect LTA and follow his most plays after my analysis. I don't hesitate to post if i disagree with his play

People on sbr are always learning from other cappers and thats the meaning of public forum.. disagreeing with his plays would give him other person's opinion... I don't know if he is right or I am right today but giving him or myself other angle to think won't harm anyone..

Even if you could get -4.5 online right now you will find that they cancelled the bet the next morning. I have found plenty of holes in the line over the years and they will not honor what they do not think is a fair bet. I never challenged it tho.
