The only losses were WAS and OHIO. CAL -10 and ARI ST -11 these games were no play. You have to read the rules, you cant play double digit games. Secondly as I explained several times, if the majority of casinos have -10 and one casino has -9.5 I pass the game.
That Is why I tell you to wait 10 to 15 minutes prior to tip off and not 45 minutes. Lines change real fast and thats where we differ. There is still plenty of time to get your plays in.

NO, as I explained earlier Yale and PEN do not have enough games yet in the database.

Thanks but the overlay has to be greater then 2 and not = 2

Right, and, as I said, the current formula calls for a play if the overlay =2 while it should not.

The formula needed a slight correction. The original formula was a reply to the message #354 that asked to "skip teams with lower power ratings laying points". The modified formula complies with the rule 4 from the message #1.

Well, here is the latest edition. I had to redo the formula twice due to my drunkenness and to the fact that I previously failed to understand some of the rules which I blame on those rules' lack of meaning and, again, my friday night drunkenness. So, here it is:

error in spreadsheet auto update

I noticed an error in todays auto update of scores and closing lines from scoresandodds.
The scores are updating properly which is most important in making predictions but the closing lines are not. It seems every so often scoresand odds slightly changes their format. It seems right after the closing line say for ex: -10 which is the way it should be shown they display, -10-05. Well what happens the spreadsheet recognizes the closing line as -5 instead of -10. Most of the time I noticed their information is formated correctly.
To correct you will need to go to the Stats tab and enter your closing lines after updating everything as explained yesterday.
Looking for someone to correct this problem.

NBA plays yesterday

Good day in NBA last night 3-0. luckily 30 min before tip off NJN went to only a +7 and that game dropped off. Again I cant stress enough how important it is to wait till the end to put your plays in.

Record in NBA now 40 - 22 = 64.5%

Newcomer here. First of all, thanks for sharing this promising NBA system with us....you have shown remarkable patience with some of the respondents who refuse to read through the thread before asking redundant/irrelevant questions. I myself have just been tracking this for a day and am tweaking the software, so if you are willing I'd love to see the PR list posted here for a couple more days, just to check that I am getting the same numbers.

Anyway, thanks again. I look forward to seeing how this does over the long term.

I don't have access to the spreadsheet on the weekend could you tell me what the plays are for today the same way you did yesterday like take Boston only if it's < 6.5 for example this way I can continue to check the lines up to the last possible minute on my iPhone. Thanks man!

Question for you. If I'm only able to update my spreadsheet Mon-fri will it mess things up? What I mean is say I updated it Friday then I don't update it again till Monday will it still automatically update the game results and power rankings from Saturday and Sunday or must I update it every day? I'm just worried it will skip over those days

Wait till 10 to 15 min prior to tip off before making plays. Lines doo change.
Here are MIN/MAX pts required for a play based on early lines

NYK + 4.5 or >
NJN + 7.5 or >
LAC + 4 or >
GS + 8.5 or >
CHI + 9 if goes to 10 no play
UTA + 9.5 if goes to 10 no plays

Although PR's move very slowly there is a chance it could screw up your plays if you dont enter scores for 2 days.

Yesterdays win/loss

Yesterday NBA plays 2 - 2
42 - 24 = 63.6%

Yesterday did anyone go with Sportrends NBA PR plays 4 - 0. In addition I loaded up on CHI since both systems were in agreement with this play.

Col 2 - 1 - 1. Its amazing how few plays there were in col out of 58 games. The system really shows where the value is.

Guys, this thread is about the NBA Power Rating System, period. Our goal here is to use and improve this system via the spreadsheet. I have also been trying to get help with those of you who are good at Excel so that the spreadsheet would be automated and easy for everyone to use. We have made some pretty good progress thanks to a few of you who have helped. There are a few more minor details that have to be corrected. Thats why I ask everyone to calculate the games by hand after obtaing the PR's rather then going to the Pick column under the Ratings tab to get your plays.

As soon as this is completed we will need help with the college hoops spreadsheet which is in shambles now and needs some work.
When this is completed I will start a new College hoops thread.
