Spurs played sloppy ball in the first half and I expect them to utilize Parker and Duncan more here. Bench has stepped up and they are getting to the line and both those things are imperative to success on the road. Portland will fade in the 4th quarter imo and start chucking up a lot of jumpers. The Blazers length has really bothered Parker and GInobli a lot so far imo so I can easily see portland winning this game if they keep up this defensive intensity.

FRIDAY DECEMBER 14TH

PLAY 109: MAVERICKS -5.5 -110 RISK $55 TO WIN $50

I'm taking the Mavs ML in a parlay tomorrow. Mavs should win this game pretty easily. The raptors are completely depleted. They are calling up guys from the D league now to fill the roster and Dallas has one of the deepest teams in the NBA. Toronto scored like 30 points in the second half against Brooklyn the other day and were having a lot of trouble defending the 3 ball. Not a matchup that Calderon or Derozon can dominate either with Fisher/Collison and Mayo guarding them. Just a small play on the spread but will be putting the ML in a nice size bet tomorrow morning. Maybe something around 3 bills.

The Lakers are a desperate team right now and I like betting on desperate teams. This is only the second press conference from Bryant in his career where I've sensed desperation. He played through back spasms last night and I hope that won't affect him today. Back spasms are a tough injury to play through, especially with Bryant's physical post style of play. I feel as though Dwight will make an imprint on this game. He's going against two very solid centers in Okafur and Nene and both these guys are capable of defending Dwight, although I think he's ready for the challenge. Washington has a very small backcourt and without Ariza in there there's not really any 1 guy that can make it difficult for Bryant. Beal is giving up a significant amount of size so I'm not sure how long you can stay with that lineup of Crawford and Beal. Livingston perhaps provides the most length and size to guard Bryant (Webster as well but Artest is such a big SF that you can't really ask Beal to guard Artest and switch Webster onto Bryant). THis will undoubtedly cause some problems for this smaller team. The only concern here is that Crawford is capable of breaking down Duhon off the dribble but he is a selfish player and the way to beat LA is with good ball movement and Washington is full of selfish guys that are all 1 on 1 streetballers. AJ price and Livingston and Nene all provide a spark, but I'm not woried about Okafur and Seraphin and these guys that merely look for their own shots.

The Sixers are going to be without Jrue Holliday tonight and some will say "star player out, bet that team." I don't think so. I see no choice for Collins but to start Evan Turner at the point who is definitely capable of running the pg position but I really don't see the sixers being able to score more than 90ish points here. David West is a bad matchup for Thad Young, who although put on some weight is still pretty weak down low comparatively. Paul George is a tough matchup for either Young or J Rich. If Collins is smart he'll try J Rich or Evan Turner on him initally and go with a lot of these cross matchups becuase NIck Young is a awful defender. The Hasborough brothers off the bench are gonna play well tonight I have a feeling, Philly doesn't really have anyone off their bench that can guard either of these guys. I don't see how you can start Lavoe Allen here which most likely means Kwame Brown in. Look for HIbbert to be aggressive. He hasn't done much this year. The cross matchups are going to confuse PHilly tonight imo.

Brandon Knight is emerging as one of the best young pg's in the league and he will be truly elite in a year or two. D will always struggles guarding quicker slimmer more athletic pg's off the dribble and this is the case here with Knight. I expect the PIstons to make it a focal point to focus on their 4th quarter play but you just never know with det and hence the small bet. Brooklyn has looked awful lately. Lopez won't be a huge factor tonight imo. The problem here could be the JJ and Wallace combo on the Wings because the Stones are fairly weak there with Tay and Singler but I think they'll give good energy tonight. I like the Pistons bench to come in and play well. Stuckey will get some time to go against Marshawn Brooks and he should expose the kid easily. Way too strong driving to the rim. Overall Stones should get up to play this game for Frank, a former nets coach.

I like Carter to score 15+ tonight. He played in TOR for the majority of his career and knows this court well. This game could be a blowout which also means extended minutes for Carter. Carlisle knows Carter wants to play well here and he'll be sure to give him 30 minutes tonight. Don't really see anyone that can guard Carter on this team except for Derozon and he will already have his hands full with Mayo
