I agree somewhat. I watch every possession of every one of their games. Kobe was trusting them and they were bricking. More often than not, he HAS to do this. If Jamison comes out and starts hitting his shots, oddly enough, Meeks hits his shots too. When they aren't, Kobe taking 50 shots IS the best option. If this team cleans up TOs and decides to defend for 48 minutes (tonight was the most they've defended in the D'Antoni era.. it was just too bad that it was for 22 seconds of the shotclock most of the time). In all honesty, they can even win half of these games that they've lost with this defense if they cut the TOs-- especially this type of TO. Hardly ever those out of bounds TOs, always has to be a dimwit pass or lose the handle on the ball for a free 2 on 1.
A decent PG fixes this. Nash is better than decent. Morris is the worst PG in the NBA. Christmas present Delonte West pls mitch

yeah he did but how much can he change without any shooters to zing it to or a big man to dump to that can make his free throws. he was always surrounded with enough players that complimented his style well

I see where you can get this misconception but this is how I look at it:
Gasol is more skilled than Stoudemire. Longer range, more post moves. Just less explosion.
Dwight is the best pick and roll big in the league by far. Its not even close.
Kobe's spot up shooting is over 50%, I wish I could find that link for you but contrary to popular belief.. his catch and shoot numbers are brilliant. Lakers are close to leading the league in TOs if they arent already. Nash cuts this IN HALF. Think of who all is playing right now and shift everyone over 2 spots. Instead of Duhon running the 1st unit, hes not even in the rotation (when Blake gets back).
Meeks spot up shooting > whatever the hell he is trying to do right now.. he's trying all these dribble stunts and stuff because there is no depth.
Jamison becomes even less of a focus on the opposing defense so he can do what he does best: cut to the rim for those easy baskets.

They'll be there in West Semis at minimum in my opinion, it just depends on health.. if Dwight can reach 100%-- he is clearly at about 80% right now. Nash fixes MANY things. People forget he's one of the best shooters in history.

I really wish they don't trade Pau.. Calderon+Bargnani will be on the table soon enough if the Raptors keep losing. Colangelo has to win now to save his job. I LOVE what Calderon can bring to the table. Such toughness. But Pau brings something most players in the NBA can't. Nash will know how to use him. Essentially, the worst thing that can happen is Pau plays more with the 2nd unit as a center. Even then, how many 2nd units have a Pau Gasol talent?

Everyone discounts Nash like he's some scrub. Didn't Nash lead the NBA in assists per game last year? Last I checked the showtime lakers weren't even that great of a defensive team. They were just solid. No one could keep up with their scoring, that was the problem.

Not to muck up this thread, but Nash isn't going to turn this Laker team into a championship team, or even a playoff team at this rate...

Nash will absolutely help the offense, in terms of distribution, and will certainly help this offense gain some sort of consistency. Kobe is trying his best to make up for the failures of everyone else on the court, but notice that the more he scores, and the more attempts he has, the more often they lose...??

The main concern is defense. You have 5 guys on the court who know how to play it, and they know how to play it well... But, they simply aren't doing it. They don't help, they don't get back, they don't seem to have ANY sense of urgency on the defensive end. Maybe they're all salty that Kobe is putting up 30 shots/game...

Steve Nash will return, and the Lakers may avg 7-8 more points per game, BUT, and this is a big but, Steve Nash is old, and is NOT going to help that defense when he is 2 steps slower than the avg "star" or younger PG in this league. Now what happens when these Lakers continue this lack-luster defensive effort, and don't provide help...?? "Lesser" teams will continue to score on, and beat these Lakers.

I don't get it. These guys are the best of the best, and this team should be killing others in this league, and they just refuse to put it together on defense. Then you hear about "frustrations" from individuals on the team, in the media. What a fukkin joke. Play some fukking defense and your record wouldn't be so lop-sided.

Nash might not fix everything but he will have a huge effect on this team. The Lakers turnover the ball way too much leading to less offense and leading to lots of fast break points which affects the perception of the defense. Nash will cut down on TOs. He will also improve offensive production and efficiency with improved passing and getting the ball effectively to players in scoring position.

Just keep an eye on Howard on D when he has to move his feet and make a concerted effort. He is mailing it in on p/roll and giving no"quick" second efforts.Seems like he would rather be in the movies than on the court right now.

Pistons are not a physical team. I like Denver because the Twolves are just not a good team without Rubio or Roy. They are lucky to be .500 right now. Love dropped like 35 in the first meeting between these two and Denver turned the ball over 20+ times or so and Denver still won. I remember watching that second half and all the Twolves did is shoot 3 after 3 and without the 3 ball they absolutely could not score. It's tough to outrebound Denver and Twolves thrive off off. rebounds. Ridnouir is not 100% and Lawson should get by him easily tonight and dish it out to the slashers and wing guys like Brewer and Andre and Gallinari and that's gonna cause some collapses for Minny imo.

All the big name cappers on SBR are on Minny (you, lakerman, sando, and I saw some others too), so I could definitely be wrong here but I'm not sure. Denver owns the Twolves.

He'll probably still drop 20+ but I highly doubt he puts up another stat line like last night in terms of FG% and assists against George Hill. Additionally, Pacers have lost a couple close games and I think they will play with a lot more intensity tonight. They are a big team and the Cavs don't really have that many scoring options as far as shooters go. I think Pacers will win this game by 5-10.

If anyone watched the game last night, they'd know that the Cavs played absolutely terrible so who's to say that they will play that much better on a b2b against a defensive team 10x's better than the Lakers right now (defensively). The only reason they ended up winning last night was because of the timely 3 pointers and the breakdown of the Lakers shitty defense in the final 2 seconds of the shotclock.

Brooklyn was on cruise control in that first half. Calderone is a good pg and can set the tempo here for Toronto but they are playing with fire putting Lucas on Joe Johnson at times there's about a 9 inch different there. I expect Brooklyn to blow out Toronto in the 2nd half.
