Bet: Gold Coast -2 1st half LOSS (can't believe i lost that. ryan james gives away a penalty for charging into pearce kicking the ball with just 10 seconds to play. the kick wasn't even an attacking one. it was from roosters own half. what an idiot)

Sydney have looked horrible ever since the suspension of Todd Carney. But Gold Coast haven't looked that much better. However, they are playing at home which they looked a lot more comfortable at than on the road. Also, Preston Campbell makes his much awaited return from injury and I think he can give the spark needed for Gold Coast to at least establish a lead before heading back into the sheds.

Game: Canberra vs North Queensland

Great value here on the cowboys. The reason why canberra are favored is because of cowboy's poor record in canberra. I don't think Campese's return has made much of an impact to the odds, which is reasonable considering no one knows how Campese really is - this is his first game of the year as well so there could potentially be some rust in the star playmaker's game. The raiders may have won their past 2 matches against top 8 teams and are fresh off a bye but there are still major weaknesses in their defence. They are the worst team in the comp at defending their goal line and their win against the Bulldogs was mixed with luck and Bulldogs poor attack/lack of direction. The dogs dominated the 1st half in possession and had like 30 tackles in the opp 20 compared to Canberra's 0! Yet Canberra were leading 12-0, which came about via an intercept try and one where Barba attempted to save the 40/20 kick and failed. If Canberra give that many opp 20 tackles away to the cowboys, then thurston and co will just tear apart this raiders side. Whilst I think Canberra won't be dominated like they were by the Dogs, i think a full strength cowboys side will be too much for this raiders side. Go with the visitors on this one.

as lucky and happy as i am with north queensland with one of the best comebacks ever, being down 22-0 in the first 22 minutes before outscoring the hosts 40-2 in the next 58 minutes i genuinely feel for canberra and david furner with dugan getting injured and campese getting injured moments after with this being his first game of the year. this performance is really gonna have a massive bearing on their confidence levels and their mentality for the next few weeks.

even if you've lost your two best players in the space of a few minutes, it never feels good to lead 22-0 and end up losing 40-22...

yeah hawley's right. it as the 2nd half line so scoring starts from 0-0. lucky cover to say the least, cowboys actually scored a try but manly had 2 converted tries which stretched out the win by just 0.5!

The warriors aren't my favorite team when it comes to covering the spread but I can think they can cover this very short number since it's essentially a full strength warriors team at home taking on the west tigers. The west tigers may also at full strength but I haven't seen anything from them in the past few weeks to suggest that they will topple the warriors IN new zealand.
