I don't have time to do a big write up for tonight's union game as i have to head for some work.

My pick is Stormers ML tonight @ $1.80. Reds have continued to rack up the wins and they've been more than impressive lately, but they come up against another team with great form. Stormers also have the tightest defence, only conceding 111 points in 9 games. Stormers are pretty good scorers too. This is the stat that i love and i think that their defence will hold the Reds down.

I played the Cheetahs last week and got smoked. Going to ride them again this week just because Chiefs not showing good form either, so giving 18 points may be too steep.

I mean, the Chiefs aren't anything special so I can't see them winning this match over 90% of the time. I might just make a tiny play on it for entertainment value only.

What's everyone's thoughts on the NRL tonight?

The Bulldogs had a good game last week and so did the Broncos (against the Sharks) but the Bullies-8.5 is alot to lay. -275 is quite a bit of juice on their ML but I'm going to be taking that. The Broncos will have a lacklustre game I suspect as the Bulldogs will come to win tonight.

NQ/Parra is a toss up where nothing clear jumps out. Parra should win tonight as the Cowboys have plenty of injuries but the Eels just aren't playing strong ball at the moment.

Anyone have any plays/leans tonight?

Just about to skedaddle off soon. I'm not touching the Cheetahs/Chiefs game, both teams are rubbish but i guess the Chiefs would be considered a rubbish tip whereas the Cheetahs imo are the sewer plant. How's that for an analogy?

If i had to pick, i'd agree with Two Ways in taking Cheetahs plus the points.

edit: i clearly wasn't the only one thinking that. the line in my newspaper said +7.5. its now at 3.5. may give the game a miss now.

This is one of those games that anything could happen and it all depends on the team that decides to show up.

it feels very surreal checking the nrl footy guide for round seven... knowing that the landscape has had a seismic shift for the rest of the season.

two games stand out for me: i think canterbury will beat the broncos tonight. brisbane had a false dawn against the hapless sharks last week.

and i think the dragons will beat the roosters on sunday. with the melbourne storm in purgatory, st george will be keen to cement their place as the competition front-runners.

not sure about margins... so i'll just whack canterbury and st george together in a ml multi @ even money.

i think parra turned a corner last week and i reckon they've remembered how to win, instead of just expecting it to happen cause for the first few rounds they kept reading in the newspapers about how awesome they are and thought they just needed to turn up and they'd beat anyone by 20 like they were at the end of last year. Thurston is supposed to be playing, but he can't be 100%

Bulldogs/Bris is a really hard one. Having some of there normal backline back makes a massive difference cause Lockyer now has someone to pass too who can actually do something with the space or hole he creates. Bulldogs are so hot and cold and even though they won quite well last week there attack still looked pretty flat. half there tries were off kicks.
Wasn't going to take anything in this game but i've just talked myself into a half unit on Brisbane plus points

Punter bets NZ$425,000 on Stormers

A punter has plunged A$325,000 (NZ$425,350) on South Africa's Stormers to beat the Reds in tonight's Super 14 rugby match in Brisbane.
The Stormers sit in third on the competition with the Reds fourth.
Centrebet's Neil Evans said the A$325,000 bet at $1.78 was one of the biggest individual bets on any football code this year.
"We firmed the Stormers into $1.72. The Reds were $2.08 at the time and are now $2.15," he said.
