Well this season is now well and truly clouded with uncertainty. To be stripped of 2 premierships and a few minor premierships is BIG, harsh - probably? deserving - maybe?

But on a wagering point of view, i think that bookies won't count Storm as the bottom placed team (ie. wooden spooners), i think they'd be classed as ineligible for the 2010 season, so therefore they aren't placed in any position.

I'm just in scock at the moment with all this. It's sad how all this came about and unfortunate for everyone.

The NRL is really to blame for this. Other clubs have broken the rules and this squad has done it so long without anyone noticing??? Guaranteed the Storm aren't the only ones either and I bet there's alot of people scared shitless atm about them possibly being caught.

This is what I'm hoping as well.... it really is only fair to everyone that they become some sort of 'ghost.' The only people who will benefit if all the current bets stand are the few who had inside info betting $10,000 on Storm Wooden Spoon.

I think all the Storm premiership/spoon bets should be returned and all the other teams wagers stand as is.

Another funny situation can arise too. Betting the 'Top 8" and "Bottom 8" unless Storm are still included in the Bottom 8 there would only be 15 teams. The 8th place team would be on the winning side in both...... just saying.

This is truly sad news....... do you guys think there punishment for this year is correct? I don't like the fact that there games are now meaningless to them either. Every game from now on is a no play as who knows what team will show up.... actually their next few games will probably go Over as I see them playing very loose and leisurely.... who knows tho, and of course their O/U isn't important at all atm.

You know, I'm actually starting to think that they'll win this week. And probably continue to win.

I don't know if the players knew or even Bellamy for that matter (although that's a little hard to swallow). But after listening to Matty Johns talk about how the one thing that kept a lot of players at the Storm was the fact that although they could make more money elsewhere, they loved the culture of the team, I actually believed him.

Maybe they broke the cap as a whole, if that makes sense. Had a bunch of players that would be making a relative fortune (for the NRL ) elsewhere on separate teams but weren't getting paid a truckload here, but as a whole, that pushed them over the edge of the cap? Sorry if this doesn't make sense - trying to think of a more eloquent way to word it but brain is fried.

If the books are taking money on the Storm game this weekend, I'm going to take them. I think they're going to try to prove a point to their supporters and to themselves. I'll only put like $50 but I'll still do it.

Matty Johns show just said that all the management/coaching staff will be investigated and anyone who had knowledge will undergo legal stuff and all that...... so unfortunately if he knew that'll but a red X beside his name.

I think we all wondered at some point just how the Storm were able to keep the likes of established stars such as Inglis, Cronk, Smith, Slater, Hoffman and co under the cap but probably just assumed a few of them took heavy paycuts if it meant being able to play under Bellamy with a realistic chance at the Premiership.

This just throws a massive spanner in the works as far as betting on futures is concerned. This sort of revelation doesn't just affect wooden spoon and premiership, it affects the market on "first coach to be sacked this year", Top Four, Top Eight and "Team to win from interstate NSW" markets. Books can do all kinds of things in this situation, they could void every bet placed on any team relating to futures if they saw fit. I only had a small play on the Sharks to take the spoon this year and this was the response I got today from Sportingbet relating to that

It seems all of us are on the same page that the NRL mucked this up and it will forever hurt the Storm. I just don't understand why the NRL didn't give the option of putting a squad on the field that's under the cap so they can compete for points the rest of the season. I don't know how this option would work out but since their games still mattered, they would still show up.

true true, i do agree with some of the punishment but i cannot agree playing for nuthin for the rest of the year. if i was a player, would i risk myself injury for the sake of nuthin or pride. why should i play 100% for gallop and his cronies. if i was a fan, why would i bother going to the games knowing full well, a win is a loss. the big question is now if the fans dont go to the game , where is the revenue going to *** from to help the storm for the rest of the year? another thing melbourne has abig polynesian community, they will probably now go over to follow the melbourne rebels next season, time will tell. anyway im still abit shocked atm. i will still be going this sunday and the broncos match in 2 weeks for the opening of AAMI park. what a PR disaster thats gonna be. this will probably be my last post in nrl section for a while so gud luk with ur bets.
