#287HoG weekend picks
Wow. I'm truly stunned by Collingwood's performance. Ultimately, they turned it on one quarter too late for the cover, kicking 5 goals in the 4th (and 5 in the previous 3 quarters) to rally to stun Hawthorn. Bah. Onward. The trappings of domestic bliss will red card HoG for the bulk of the weekend, so I'm putting all my weekend plays out today (unfortunately, that means no Championship plays). Please note, the Stuttgart match is this afternoon.
West Coast +29 (Saturday, 12:15am). Geelong, I think, has what it takes to beat Collingwood in the Grand Final. And I fully expect them to win this match. But the Eagles have been on an absolute roll since Week 10 – including an 8 point win over Geelong in Perth. I don't think they have enough to win in Melbourne, but I do expect this match to be a slog. Geelong will win, but the Eagles will keep it very close.
Stuttgart -1 at -102 (Friday, 2:30pm). There's no mystery to this play. Standard HoG -1 on a far better side mostly because Hamburg is still fetid garbage. I'll keep my fingers crossed for 3 goals from Stuttgart just in case the Hamburglers somehow find the back of the net.
Manchester United -1 at -104 (Saturday, 12:30pm). Has HoG learned his lesson about fading Stoke at the Britannia? Of course not – well, not when ManU comes to town. Unlike Chelski, ManU actually has been making their dominance count. They roll out of bed and score 3 goals. I think I'll only need 2. So, standard HoG -1 play.
Bayern Munich -1' at -105 (Saturday, 12:30pm). Munich is in splendid form at the moment. As with ManU, I'm going to ride them until they disappoint. I'm a bit nervous about the 1' because Leverkusen is a quality side, but I think Munich is good for 3 goals.
Bremen ML at -111 (Sunday, 11:30am). Bremen have really started the season well, and have been fantastic at home. Last week, they survived an early red card on the road and still drew. Hertha has been a surprise thus far, but I think Bremen bring them back to a reality a bit with a comprehensive win.
Finally, I don't have the lines, yet, but consider a Rangers-Celtic parlay for Saturday, as well.
SEASON TO DATEAussie Rules: 24-11
Soccer: 19-15-2
Rugby: 3-3
CFL: 1-3

#290Right Angle Sports, a tout service that tends to specialize more in totals than other tout services. also relatively transparent and less scummy than other tout services (key: i said relatively). had a great year in CBB totals a few years back and moves lines. not saying that the he will be right or wrong, and i don't even know how he's doing of late, but him releasing this under as a play explains the drop in the line. if you like the play a lot, this is probably more reason to like it (albeit at lesser value after the drop). if the line movement caught your eye as a huge indicator, this would be the reason.
BOL whatever you decide, zulu, looking forward to your plays. thinking that i still might add SDSU/Michigan under, but swamped at work.Comment -

#299Love KC + 14.5. and the Over. KC Will throw it 50 times on Sunday. Put up or shut up game for Cassell. The media has been ripping him all week. SD's struggles early every year. Rivers 4 int already in '11. KC Defense is hapless with the loss of Berry. McCluster/Jones/ Battle will not be much of a factor in this one but will run enough to get the passing game going. 38-31 San Diego.Comment -

4-5 -3.2u. 24-14-1 +18.8u season to date.
LSU/WVU under was the one glaringly bad pick, in that it assumed that WVU would put up a fight on defense. should've simply unloaded on LSU, another lesson learned on playing side and total in same game. i think that every person that i heard pick WVU sited the Morgantown night-game crowd as a major part of his reasoning, which simply doesn't hold water against LSU. When the visitor dominates from the outset, HFA gets turns on its ear and plays into a team's deflation. not an LSU fan nor a Les Miles fan, but it's impossible not to respect their defense and overall toughness.
almost tried to middle both 330 games (A&M, Cal/UW over) but decided it was trying to be too cute. Of course both lost. Cal/UW over was the one unlucky loser, with 41 points in the 1H and Cal having 1st and goal at the 2 in the closing minutes before throwing a pass out of the endzone on 4th and goal at the 1 against the mighty UW defense. Bah.
A&M and Ohio U both got killed by turnovers, but that's part of the game.
probably not a good idea to take the UNL/Wyoming over the week before UNL heads to Madison, but thought that and absence of Crick would keep the UNL defense very vanilla.
oh well, time to turn the page to NFL.Comment -
