Ya know, I am glad we get along Biff. As a Bama and SEC fan, I despise Ohio St fans. I routinely give the finger to drivers with OSU gear. But to be fair, I also give the finger to Tenn, Auburn, LSU, Florida, ND, and USC fans. My middle finger is up like 60% of the time I am driving.

i'm glad we get along too, Zulu. i'm probably not the typical OSU fan, in that i am very critical of them and rarely bet them (week one was probably the only time i'll bet the Buckeyes ATS all year). i'm a huge Big Ten fan in general, and a lot of Big Ten fans hate the SEC (jealousy), but i love the SEC. how can a football fan not love the defense played in the SEC? LSU and Florida are the two SEC teams that i really don't care for, but it's impossible to watch a game like last night's and not walk away with full respect for LSU's defense. someone at work this morning mentioned how boring he thought last night's game was. i almost gave him the finger, but for the fact that he's my boss.

I agree with most of this. O'Brien looks to be one of the Top QB's in the country, so I don't think losing recievers will be that huge a blow. Also, you are correct about Smith as well as WVU's pash rush because Maryland is fairly small on O and D line. The factor I am taking into to mind here is WVU's depleted secondary. Only returning 2 started from a pass defense that ranked 11th in the nation is a big issue for WVU. We saw glimpses of how a good passing game can stretch this new secondary against Marshal. O'Brien will most definitely take full advantage of this if the O-line can keep him up. I am not saying WVU won't win, but I see this game being a shoot out and I never touch the sprea o shoot outs.

i skipped that game altogether because of the Jerry Kill situation - not because i wouldn't fade Gophers because their coach fell ill, rather because i think that it makes for a great deal of unpredictability (will Minnesota struggle because of lack of Kill's insight in gameplanning, or will they rally around the Gipper?). without capping it, though, it would be Miami-OH or nothing for me, i wouldn't back Gophers with money i found on the ground this week.

HoG Saturday (just missed Aussie Rules play, apologies)

Very happy with the Hawthorn play. Decent card tomorrow, but nothing as good as that.

Carlton +14' Saturday, (5:45 am). I think this line is a pretty sharp line. There's no way I'm betting anything close to what I played on Hawthorn. But my gut feeling is that Carlton continues their history of good performances in Perth and keeps this match close and even wins outright. West Coast will hit them hard early, but I think the Blues rally in the 2nd half.

The rest, not much time for write-ups, so just bare bones.

Bremen PK -113 (Saturday, 9:30am). I like Bremen ML in this spot, but that odds are to big to tout it, so I'll play the draw-safe option.

Mochengladbach PK +115 (Saturday, 9:30am). See Bremen discussion. Oh, and Hamburg=awful.

West Ham ML +142 (Saturday, 7:30am). The best side in the Championship gets a big road win.

i know how you feel. i stopped betting on Michigan years ago when i realized that if they lost, i felt like a Michigan fan, and it took all of the joy out of watching Michigan lose. fortunately for me, that realization was around the time of Rich Rod's arrival, which make UM overs butter.

for the record, i think that it's great to have someone who hates OSU regularly posting in this thread. although i rarely bet the Buckeyes, i am unabashed in my fanship, so your input is a good counter-balance to that. bottom-line: no one should consider backing OSU with their bankroll for the foreseeable future. i believe that Fickell will right the ship, but they simply are not a good team right now.

two things that i could not believe yesterday. one, that Arizona couldn't muster up more than 10 with Criner back given that Duke was able to get two TDs against Stanford. two, that i ended up being awake for nearly 24 hours to root home that Okie State play thanks to dawn tee time and weather in Tulsa. surreal. oh well, can't complain about the Stanford/AZ loss, i had some good breaks yesterday.

A decent Saturday. Carlton came up aces, but an early red card put Bremen up against it. Still, the soccer plays hit a plus bet and pushed the minus, so a small positive.

Liverpool PK -106 (Satuday, 8:30 am). I'm willing to back the Reds one more time on the road. This time, though, I'll play the PK. I think Liverpool are better than Spurs. I'm not sure if they'll get the result in North London, but I think they're the more likely side to win. I'll play the PK and hope for the win.

Manchester United ML -115 (Sunday, 11:00am). ManU have been in fantastic form in the EPL. Chelsea have been a bit dodgy and haven't had a real offensive edge. I like the young guns of ManU at home to get a huge win.

Ajax +0.25 at -115 (Sunday, 6:30am). I think Ajax and Twente are the two clear best sides in Holland. PSV is good -- and they're at home -- but I like Ajax to at least get a draw in this spot. Personally, I'll probably play the ML at +200 -- any time I can play Ajax at +200 domestically, it's a good deal.

thanks, Rick. haha, no i didn't forget about the Badgers. i was actually telling a buddy of mine that the model that i use seems to overly favor non-AQs against AQs, so although my model had NIU in that one, i passed and took Badgers to cover in my pools. thought about the over and glad that i passed. Badgers are a buzzsaw right now, UNL will have to get their act together if they want to have a chance in a night game in Madison in two weeks. i hope that Huskers look good next week and i could definitely see a play on Badgers or over in that one, hoping for UNL to throw up a shut-out at Wyoming next game.
