also like wisky to wax the huskers, the points dont scare me as i dont think neb equipped to handle this team in that place.

leaning clemson but may just be cause dont have much feel for vtech, figure tech will run a plenty but clem seems like a tough team to keep up with right now and getting a td is tempting.

Happy stanford back on the schedule this week, love my super "square" trees to cover every week. 3tds doesnt seem like that much to ask with the way they seem to enjoy rolling ppl to try and prove themselves.

haven't capped Wisky or Clemson yet (will today), but lean towards both of them. i keep up with VT pretty well (my sister went there), and they are not all that good this year. although they will certainly be tough at home, 7 points is a lot to give Clemson with that offense and how hot they have been. everyone is waiting for Clemson to have their annual collapse, and it might happen, but i saw no signs of it the last two weeks - they've looked great.

will check out Stanford too, and of course, GT/NCSU over. the way i see it, GT and Kansas this year are a lot like Wisky and Michigan last year, and i rode over for both UW and UM all season last year.

My only play so far this week is Michigan State over Ohio State. Sparty has the much better offense, much better qb and a comparable defense. I'll take the +3.5 in that one, but I think Sparty wins outright.

Almost forgot, what is your guys' take on Alabama and Florida? Am I the only square that is going to pound Alabama if -3 becomes available? I may even buy the half point if possible. I know Florida is the sexy "sharp" pick because of Weis, Muschamp and the athleticism of the players, but Bama will hit you in the mouth and then laugh at you for crying.

Let me preface this by saying that I am an Alabama fan through and through. I hardly ever bet on Bama to cover because A. They historically have a terrible track record of covering and B. Although I know more about them then any other team, I don't like to take the chance that I am letting my emotions get in the way of a smart bet.


Anyway, I love Bama to cover this game. We have a built up frustration with Florida from the last 15 years, and we will take any chance possible to take it out on them. Brantley is a great QB, but he hasn't faced a secondary anywhere close to what he will see tomorrow this year. As we saw last year, he can be pressured into forcing passes and making other bad decisions. Our secondary is not only ball hungry (especially deep), but also fast enough to cause big losses in screens and passes to the flat. Our DB's are athletic enough to match up with any of Florida's backs. We have so much depth that we will constantly have fresh players in, and will give more defensive looks than Weiss can keep up with. The media tries to portray Bama as being weak in the front four. This is not the case. They are young, but very talented. Florida's running backs are extremely fast, but not big enough to run through the tackles often. Weiss will attack mostly with his running game, but a one trick pony will not win this game for the Gators. Maze proved last week that he is more explosive than Julio Jones was on special teams last year. We have a chance for points or at least a short field on every kick.

Florida has a very good defense as well, but I don't see any way they can keep up with Richardson and Lacey. They are even more of a deadly duo than Ingram and Richardson. Bama, again, is young but very deep and talented at Wide Out. Our running game will open up big plays down field.

I would murder this game if it hit -3.

sorry just getting back to you, LTA, work really got away from me today. i have that game USF, 30-23, so right on the number. that said, i could definitely see an under there with USF's ability to generate pressure, Pitt's crappy o-line and USF's running game. 23 points for Pitt was me trying to forecast a max for purposes of the spread.

i haven't capped Bama/UF yet, but i'm in a big money CFB pool that is due at 3 pm every Thursday, and Bama/UF is one of the games in the pool, so i will be getting well into that one tonight. MSU/OSU will of course be on the slate tonight, too, although i know that i won't bet that game. in-laws are going down to it, though. initially, i would lean Sparty.

will be looking at some of those tonight and will report back with any thoughts. that one that jumps out that i'm not particularly fond of is BC. i think that they are real dogshit this year, although +3' home dog gives you a nice cushion against a team like Wake, which is no prize in their own right. think you're probably right on Sparty, unfortunately. i would not even consider NC State (contra GT) or UF (contra Bama). both GT and Bama are locomotives right now, and NC State looks terrible.

Name dropping eh? I can't stand Finbaum or his show. It is too sensationalist. They would much rather talk about who is under investigation than actually talking football. The callers are amusing at times. I used to listen to his show but luckily a new sports station has picked up Tim Brando in the evening here.

oh the Finebaum show is pretty hard to listen to. it has its moments when he has good guests, but all things considered, the reason that i listen to it on the way home is that it's better than Gottleib (what isn't) or PTI. the one sports talk show that i like a lot is Bill King, been listening to that over Stern in the morning since CFB started. they have a capper in to discuss games on Thursday, then Phil Steele on Friday. i would imagine that Brando's show is good.

i think it's Navy, 26-17. glad i got -3 (-105). i expected the number to go to 3' and up, just thought it would happen earlier. might be worth considering buying it to 3 if 3' is all that's available to you. i'll buy a hook to buy a push (pay juice to avoid juice), but i don't buy a hook to buy a win (that's why i bought the hook with USF).
