Total newb question regarding the public and your picks
I see a lot of people saying in CFB betting they monitor who joe public is leaning towards.

How does that affect your betting style?

I understand line movements and all, but what does a forum full of guys or bar chit chat have to do with it?

Yes, may seem like a stupid question to some but I'm new to certain aspects of gambling

It does not affect my betting style at all. First of all, 50% of the info you see in her about "Joe Pub" is WRONG. Someone takes a stat that they got from one off shore book and decides that it is the gospel. Off shore books often give false information in hopes of controling peoples plays. A Vegas book will never give that kind of information out. Secondly, since 85% of everyone in here are losers, that means 85% are "Joe Pubs". Everyone thinks they are not, when in fact, they are. Third, "Joe Pub" does not lose every game. Far from it. While they have a losing record, they do not get shut out. The game itself is much more important than what Joe Pub does with it. Stick to picking the winners, and do not worry what Joe Pub does.

I ignore most of it, books are looking to get even action on each side and collect their juice risk free. If someone is claiming 80% of the public is on 1 side and the line hasn't moved, they are full of bs.

Books can say 90% of the public is on A but that may mean 9 guys bet $5 on Team A, and 1 guy bet $50 on Team b, so is it really 90/10 or 50/50?

public perception of a team is a factor when bookies make their lines so you have to account for it, especially when dealing with ranked teams

Had no idea the guys in Vegas actually took the publics 'feel' into consideration when making odds. Makes sense I guess.

Who the public is on is overrated and yes books will skew numbers anyway. One of the biggest public bets yesterday was padres over 6.5. The whole world was on it and the final score was 10-5 ez win for public. Cap yourself or find a capper u trust. Public perception is overrated IMO
