It's amazing to me how how many coaches in all sports (but it is most evident in football) don't know basic statistical math and how it pertains to their game. With all the money these teams spend on trainers, analysts, specialists, uniform varieties, etc..., you'd think they would at least use one of their math professors to come up with mathematically sound game theory for the coaches to implement when it's applicable. While no theory would guarantee you a win or work every single time, the fact that there are theories that will ALWAYS give you a much better statistical probability of winning then any other sequences in certain situations should ALWAYS be implemented. One of the shining examples is when you are down exactly 14 points and score a TD with 5:00 or less in a game. You should ALWAYS go for a 2 point conversion, as it will ALWAYS give you a CLEARLY better chance to win the game. Yet, coaches never do it, because they never were taught the basic premise of why it will give you a better chance to win, and they're too set in their ways to think some 120 lb. statistics expert that never played football in his life can come up with something that will work much better than the lifetime jock can.
