on3's MLB 2026 Opening Day System
Disclaimer: I'm not grecycle and would not do as good of a job as he does every year, so I will gladly hand it over to him or abandon this thread if he wants to resume.

Explanation of the system summarized from last year's thread:

    Regular System:
    • 3- or 4-game series (only first 3 games are played)
    • First game has a home favorite above -145
    • Odds above -190 are played on the runline instead
    Filtered System:
    • Same criteria as the regular system, AND:
    • First game total over 9
    5/2 System:
    • Same criteria as the filtered system
    • Series starts on the B bet after the A bet loses
    • B bet to win 5 units and C bet to win back lost B bet plus 2 units
The Regular and Filtered systems are played using labby lines. The 5/2 system is played separately.

The labby lines are used for a combination of Regular and Filtered plays. Filtered plays are also Regular plays, so the system effectively plays them twice with the labby. (The 5/2 are Filtered plays that lost the A bet, so you would technically be playing the B and C bets of the Filtered plays 3 times if playing the 5/2 and the labby lines).

The labby lines need two numbers for each play. Tracking for this system uses 10s when adding new numbers to the line and 20 is treated as 1U (2x10), but your units may vary. A win eliminates two numbers from the labby line and a loss is added as a new number to the labby line. New numbers (10) are added as needed for new plays or to spread risk. It may be easiest to consider all plays as 1 total labby line as opposed to having separate labby lines for A, B, and C bets.

Using opening day as an example, there were 3 regular plays so the system started with 6 10s.
    10 10 10 10 10 10

SEA and LAD won, while KC lost, so 4 numbers are eliminated and the KC loss (31.60 at -158 odds) is added to the line.
    10 10 10 10 10 10 31.60

At the end of the day, there were 3 numbers left on the line: 10 10 31.60. The day 2 line (post #13) shows there were 5 total numbers; 3 on the A bet and 2 on the B bet. This means that 2 10s were then added to the lines, giving:
    10 10 31.60 10 10

To spread risk, the numbers are averaged. The total line is 71.60 (4x10 + 31.60) divided by the 5 numbers, giving a new line of 5 x 14.32. Day 2 shows an A bet and a B bet and numbers are moved between the A, B, and C lines as needed. Therefore, 2 numbers are shown on the B line and 3 were left on the A line, giving:
    Labby Line (20$ = 1unit)
    (A) 3 * 14.32
    (B) 2 * 14.32
    (C)

For the next play, the numbers are rounded up to the next tenth for the next play, so TB is at 1.44U = 14.40 x 2 = 28.80. TB lost the run line last night, so 28.80 will now be added to the line.
    14.32 14.32 14.32 14.32 14.32 28.80.

    To summarize the lines above:
    Day 1 before games: 10 10 10 10 10 10
    Day 1 after games (2W, 1L, 2 numbers added): 10 10 31.60 10 10
    Day 2 before games (Day 1 after line averaged): 14.32 14.32 14.32 14.32 14.32
    Day 2 after games (1L): 14.32 14.32 14.32 14.32 14.32 28.80

One other note. I think grecycle used a specific book to track. I remember not having access to that book, so I'm using scores and odds.

That rings a bell. Since I don't have access to Pinnacle, I used scoresandodds.com to track publicly since it can be validated by everyone.

Obviously, lines vary with each book and folks can adjust their plays based on their own lines, risk tolerance, etc.

Anyone who plays a so called ''system'' is being ridiculous. Anyone who puts a system out there (especially someone else's system) is totally brain dead... Too lazy to do the handicapping work necessary to find some success...

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion - and everyone wagers for different reasons and at different levels . Some follow it religiously , and some use it as a guide .

Others im sure just wager for a few dollars a unit and run it recreationally.

These chases have been posted since around 2009 .... for about 6 yrs longer then your account here .

No one has to follow or read anything they don't believe in
... this is the beauty..we can all make our own choices .

The system delivered 8 units I believe ( 8 and 0 ) on week one and over 5 days . Not bad . Call it BLIND luck if you will . But it makes things interesting to say fhe least.

Thats just my opinion though. To each his and her own

                            Have a super weekend

So everyone should only think about betting how you do? "The right way"?

I'd wager the readers of a thread like this would feel sorry for a bitter angry handicapper who looks down on those that actually bet for fun and enjoyment. Some bettors prefer to spend the time you grind handicapping for yourself having a life with family or friends whilst still enjoying the excitement of a bet on ganeday.

It's just a different perspective on betting. Probably a more sensible betting perspective really.

                              Braindead seems a bit projective.

These guys have been enjoying their betting this way year after year after year.

That's the crazy thing about free will. You can pick and choose different things that may give you an edge. Some may believe in a system and some believe in handicapping by looking at stats, matchups, weather, etc. Some may even use a combination of both! Gadzooks! Regardless, these are all data points that folks may or may not use to inform themselves before wagering.

As a community, we're all looking for different insights to beat the books. Do you have a thread somewhere that can show the brain dead how to handicap? Any constructive resources that you can contribute for the lazy folks to read when they find a bit of motivation?

Some bettors prefer to spend the time you grind handicapping for yourself having a life with family or friends whilst still enjoying the excitement of a bet on ganeday.

It's just a different perspective on betting. Probably a more sensible betting perspective really.

                                      Braindead seems a bit projective.

As a community, we're all looking for different insights to beat the books. Do you have a thread somewhere that can show the brain dead how to handicap? Any constructive resources that you can contribute for the lazy folks to read when they find a bit of motivation?
Exactly. Every little bit counts and the Beauty is .. if you don't agree with an angle or you don't appreciate a thread ... Click the button and move along . No need for name calling and putting people down because they may or may not operate on your wavelength.

Parents , and later good solid friends and managers taught me ... if you don't have something positive ( or nice ) to say.. say nothing .
